Apologies, Cherry! The trendiest new fragrances have chosen blackberry as the top fragrance note for fall.
So far, 2025 has revolved around everything cherry. This includes "cherry blossom makeup," black cherry lipstick, cherry-red nails, and cherry fragrances. (My personal favorite is Phlur's Cherry Stem Eau de Parfum, by the way. It’s juicy, warm, and luxurious, and I've been using it frequently lately.) However, it seems the trend is shifting as the internet's fascination with cherry is evolving. While still popular, the latest and trendiest makeup products, nail shades, and perfumes are now focusing on a different fruit: blackberries. They are just as sweet and juicy as cherries but have a darker, jammier, and moodier profile. Blackberries are the natural next step for the fruit-loving beauty industry. Just look at the world of perfumery. Numerous new and reissued blackberry scents are popping up from trendy brands like Dior, The 7 Virtues, Gisou, and more. Yes, blackberry-girl fall has arrived, and I have insights on the best fragrances to match this trend. Keep reading for details.

**Best New Blackberry Scent: Dior Miss Dior Essence**
Key notes: Blackberry, elderflower, jasmine, smoked oakwood
Fans of the original Miss Dior Eau de Parfum ($115) might be skeptical about this new interpretation, but I urge them to give it a chance. It's fruitier and moodier than its predecessor and definitely merits attention. The luscious blackberry note is front and center, followed by sweet elderflower, gentle jasmine, and smoky oakwood. I describe the original Miss Dior as "sweet," whereas this version feels "bold." Both scents exude sophistication but in distinct manners. This fragrance is a chypre scent, which implies it belongs to a category known for being complex, mysterious, and captivating. Chypre scents usually feature fruity top notes, floral middle notes, and earthy or mossy base notes. For context, Frederic Malle’s renowned Portrait of a Lady is a classic example of a chypre scent.
**Best Sophisticated Blackberry Scent: Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay Cologne**
Key notes: Blackberry, bay leaves, cedarwood
Jo Malone's Blackberry & Bay Cologne is a classic. Like all of this brand's fragrances, it’s delicate, understated, and elegant. The ripe blackberry note is expected, but the accompanying herbal green note adds an unexpected and refined touch. It feels as though I'm experiencing the ripe berries along with the lush foliage that surrounds them. I envision it resembling the scent of a luxury bed and breakfast nestled in the English countryside.
**Best Clean Blackberry Scent: The 7 Virtues Blackberry Lily Eau de Parfum**
Key notes: Blackberry, blackcurrant, lily of the valley, rose, caramel, cedar
The 7 Virtues is a clean, sustainably sourced fragrance line. Its scents are hypoallergenic, vegan, cruelty-free, and gluten-free, created without phthalates, parabens, sulfates, formaldehyde, or UV inhibitors, and feature sugarcane alcohol. Impressively, The 7 Virtues formulates its perfumes with over 20% pure fragrance oil for maximum longevity (the brand claims its scents last 24 hours and can linger for up to 72 hours). Blackberry Lily, which has been re-released due to demand, prominently features blackberry paired with blackcurrant (a similar fruit with a more tart aroma), resulting in a notably fruity scent. This is complemented by a sweet and nearly aquatic note of lily of the valley and a hint of fresh (not powdery!) rose. The fragrance has a calming, almost zen-like quality, making it an excellent choice for those who typically shy away from fruity scents.
**Best Body Mist: Henry Rose Blonde Barry Body Spray**
Key notes: Blackberry, blackcurrant bud, nectarine, blood orange, musk
This body spray embodies the offspring of a blackberry and a clementine. The scent is juicy, warm, and elevated, making it one of my favorites from Henry Rose (and that’s quite a feat since I own nearly all their fragrances). It captures the essence of an orchard filled with oranges, ripening blackberry bushes, and warm sunlight.
**Best Blackberry Hair Perfume: Gisou Lavender Berry Honey Hair Perfume**
Key notes: Blackberry, lavender, ginger, honey
Currently, this is my favorite hair perfume. The smoothness of lavender combines with sweet blackberry, zesty ginger, and honey to create a unique and intoxicating scent. It stands out as
