5 Color Trends for 2026 I'm Already Borrowing from Louise Trotter's Bottega Veneta Premiere

Caitlin Burke serves as an editor in residence at Who What Wear, operates as a stylist, and is a creative director who has collaborated with brands such as Altuzarra, Brandon Maxwell, Rosie Assoulin, and Kallmeyer. Additionally, she is the author of The Style Out, a forthcoming Substack newsletter focused on fashion and style, sharing insights from nearly twenty years in the industry. By the end of each runway season, I often find myself filled with styling ideas and a growing desire for designer pieces. However, after the spring/summer 2026 shows, one collection stood out in my fashion thoughts. Louise Trotter's debut for Bottega Veneta featured 76 looks that have significantly influenced how I wish to dress—both for the remainder of 2025 and into the next season when I'll finally have the chance to shop her S/S 26 designs. Below, I’ll share my key observations from the show, including the spring color trends I'm eager to embrace and how I plan to style them with pieces from my own wardrobe.

      **WHITE ON WHITE**

Since Michael Rider debuted at Celine, I’ve been yearning for a soft white shoe to pair with everything, and this Bottega collection has only intensified that desire. (In fact, I purchased these Phoebe Philo flats right after the show.) I also solidified my longing for more texture, especially through white-on-white or monochrome textural layering. Texture has become a significant theme amid the luxury houses' shift towards maximalism (or more accurately "simple with impact," as Phoebe Philo famously articulated). There appears to be a collective fatigue with quiet luxury and "elevated essentials," yet many of us aren't quite ready for full-blown maximalism. Texture seems like a sensible step in that direction, gradually amplifying our attire (both literally and figuratively). I appreciate how Trotter combined summery poplins with feathers that are typically reserved for festive occasions, and how heavy, textured knits were balanced with lightweight trousers. I found these Colleen Allen cotton pants to wear with chunky knits and possibly this Dries clutch. I also scored a ruffled McQueen top to match with simple ivory trousers.

      **NAVY EVERYTHING**

I’m trying to avoid stating “navy is the new brown” (since brown will undoubtedly continue to be in style and pairs beautifully with navy, as seen in several looks from Bottega Veneta's S/S 26 collection), but navy undeniably shone during the show. The layering of navy on navy compellingly illustrated how we should dress in the upcoming season. What prompted me to start an immediate shopping quest were the navy bags. I can’t recall ever considering a navy bag before, but now it’s essential for me to have one. This Liffner clutch and Loewe bag are currently at the top of my wish list.

      **GRAY AS THE ULTIMATE NEUTRAL**

We’ve seen gray on the runways many times, but Trotter’s presentation—with accents of yellow, beige, and camel—made it feel particularly fresh and desirable. It’s a specific, cool-tone gray that pairs beautifully with the warmer neutrals. I plan to recreate this look immediately with pieces I already own, and I’m eyeing that same Dries clutch in gray or a Khaite bag to complement it.

      **PINK + MAUVE + BURGUNDY**

When I saw a mauve suit grace the runway, topped with a stunning pink pony-hair clutch I didn’t know I needed, I actually gasped. The pale-blue button-down peeking out was just the cherry on top. I had already been searching for more burgundy this fall, but now mauve and pink have joined the mix. I might also invite pale blue to make a guest appearance.

      **POPS OF GREEN AND YELLOW**

In keeping with the color inspiration, Trotter's incorporation of green and yellow throughout the show deserves to be featured in color theory lessons. She treated both colors as if they were neutrals, and now I’m keen to replicate that approach. I’ll be digging out my trusty butter-yellow Jil Sander sweater, which I usually reserve for spring, to pair with more neutral winter outfits. I’m also on the lookout for
