Lately, I've been very drawn to anything that sparkles, and Sandy Liang is the reason behind it. She's often responsible for my credit card bills, especially at this time. While visiting the designer's shop on Orchard a couple of weeks ago, I noticed the Pinkie, a light-pink metallic pleated skirt, displayed on a rack. Ever since, I can't get it out of my mind.

Usually, I gravitate toward faux fur or pony hair—textures that feel warm and inviting. However, the way Liang styled the skirt completely shifted my viewpoint. The model wore open-toed sandals, which I’ve put away for the season, alongside a lovely pink sweater layered over a collared shirt. From the knee up, it was a look I wished to adopt for the entire season. It made me realize the appeal of introducing a touch of sparkle to a classic fall outfit. The diverse elements and textures complement each other beautifully without appearing like something from a holiday catalog. The metallic aspect adds an unexpected twist to a look while enlivening a standard sweater-and-shirt combination, which can be quite dull. This look also echoes styles seen on numerous '90s Miu Miu runways. A metallic, shimmery skirt brings an effortlessly chic vibe that feels reminiscent of past decades. I've noticed people all over New York sporting metallic pleated skirts, like Liang's, or similar glittery or sequined styles, layered with bulky sweaters and scarves or leather jackets. This is definitely set to become my go-to fall uniform from now on.
