Meet Verona Farrell, the internet's cool girl who is turning list-making into the hottest trend this winter.

Welcome to the Gen Z Mood, where I—Who What Wear UK's 27-year-old social media editor—share my monthly mood and the most thrilling finds I’ve discovered during my scrolling. I'm also on the lookout for innovative and budget-friendly ways to shop trends, and you're invited along for the ride.

      **The Mood: Internet Icons**

(Image credit: @secondhandhuns) I have a deep appreciation for lists. Whether it's my weekly to-do list, a carefully curated wish list of vintage items I aspire to own, or the winter watch list I'm eager to complete this season, I believe there’s significant value in writing down my thoughts. This habit aligns with internet icon and the inspiration for this month's Gen Z mood, Verona Farrell. For those who are always online, her name may ring a bell. However, if you're not fluent in TikTok, let me fill you in: the columnist, street-style curator, and recent internet sensation has popularized lists through her new content format, gaining millions of views online. From categorizing "things that are rock and roll" to "low-effort, high-reward gift ideas" and "things exuding glamour," she keeps her followers—and fashion peers—waiting for her next insight.

(Image credit: @secondhandhuns) With five years in the fashion industry under her belt, the content creator knows how to make the most of her platform. Fashion has always been her language; she shared upcycling tips before the pandemic and now showcases her mostly vintage wardrobe online. Regardless of her style location (currently London, previously Stockholm, and before that, Paris), she consistently delivers the freshest takes on fashion.

(Image credit: @secondhandhuns) Despite her profile peaking over the summer, Verona is quite familiar with going viral. She initiated her street-style series in 2023 and was among the first to introduce a "What people are wearing in…" video format with her @secondhandhuns account. The account boasts over 800,000 followers across TikTok and Instagram, serving as a vital source of style inspiration for social media's fashion-forward crowd.

(Image credit: @secondhandhuns) Recently, Verona has settled in London and enrolled in Faber & Faber's writing course (very Carrie Bradshaw-esque). For this month’s Gen Z Mood, I had the opportunity to chat with her about topics we all want to know from her comments. We discussed the differences between London and Scandi styles, the gifting season, and—of course—the art of creating a good list. Scroll on for her latest wish list and more.

**Do you have a trend prediction for winter?**

I'm currently really into skinny scarves—not knitted ones, but thin, silky scarves, like a long strip of fabric. I first noticed them in Spain, where all the Spanish girls were styling silk scarves around their necks and in their hair tied in a knot, especially with a big jacket! Super chic.

**What’s your favourite accessory right now?**

It’s actually in my bag. It’s a claw clip, but not just any claw clip; it has a rosette detail. It's from Whistles. I think any kind of unique hair clip is really cool. I'm into a chunky clip as an accessory paired with large hoop earrings; I borrowed that idea from a girl named Isabella Frandsen I saw in Copenhagen.

**If you’re channeling a fictional character this season, who is it?**

It's Kate Hudson’s character from Almost Famous. I love her outlook on life. She’s amazing; her style, her curly hair—everything about her is free-spirited, and I think her style reflects that.

**Do you have a dream designer purchase?**

Absolutely. A Gucci Jackie bag. A few seasons ago, there was a bright-red version that I immediately wanted when I saw it. Everyone seems to love burgundy now, but that bright red is just so striking. So yes, one day, I’ll have that red Jackie bag from the spring/summer 2025 collection.

**What's your favourite place to shop for basics?**

I prefer COS and American Vintage for knits, but there’s also a fantastic Scandinavian brand called Gem Wear that offers great basics.

**Is there a book you’re currently reading?**

Yes. *Still Life* by Sarah Winman; it’s phenomenal. It’s one of the best books I've ever read—very comforting, like a warm hug.

      **Shop Verona's Edit:**

      - **Gucci**: Jackie 1961 Medium Bag

      - **Gem Wear**: Mayagw Strap Tee
