If you're going to Paris this winter, I have the places that everyone is currently buzzing about.
Melanie Masarin serves as a Who What Wear Editor in Residence, founder and CEO of Ghia, writer of the Night Shade Substack newsletter that explores founder life, treasure hunting, fashion insights, and culinary experiences, and is the author of the upcoming cookbook, Riviera. If it seems like everyone is in Paris, it’s due to countless reasons, including Fashion Weeks, the second edition of Art Basel Paris, Design Miami.Paris, and Paris Photo—which I highly recommend. There’s also a continuous influx of new offerings that make a trip to Paris worthwhile. Whenever someone asks for recommendations too far ahead of time, I advise them to "Please call me two weeks before," as each season brings a literal nouvelle vague of openings. Below, I’ve compiled a blend of established favorites and new spots worth exploring.
**37 Rue de Grenelle, 75007**
Rubirosa's, owned by jeweler Lauren Rubinski, whose grandfather once sold poplin to the Vatican, features stunning cashmere, dinner-worthy pajamas, and beautifully packaged slippers. It’s a tempting store to visit, and she kindly requests it not be referred to as "the new Charvet."
**6 Rue du Marché Saint-Honoré, 75001**
Creative director Olivier Leone and his partner Arthur Cohen, the owners of the remarkable Ojii, have opened a sushi bar in the lovely Marché du Palais Royal, which is sure to become a hit spot in Paris.
**42 Rue Charlot, 75003**
Although this spot isn't new, after repeatedly hearing if it was worth the wait, I stood in line for just 10 minutes and can sadly say I walked away with the best jambon-beurre I've ever tasted. They are generous with their fillings, and all combinations are truly delicious. Now that I’m back in New York, I’m desperately seeking one that compares, but sadly haven’t found it!
**1 Rue du Sabot, 75006**
Created by the talented Sarita Posada, known for her work at Palm Heights and Aimé Leon Dore, this restaurant offers a refreshing alternative to the usual 6th arrondissement options. The dining room has a very alluring ambiance, and I'm planning to try it next week.
**18 Rue de Beaune, 75007**
The beloved vintage store from Tucson and New York has finally arrived in Paris. The selection is incredibly impressive, even by local standards, though it follows the same trend of being quite expensive as in New York.
**134 Boulevard Haussmann, 75008**
This place isn’t exactly new but has remained a favorite among my local friends for its Lebanese mezze, lamb shank, and pistachio baklava—all delicious. While the cotton-candy ice cream is a bit too much for my taste, it’s worth trying.
**1, Place Clemenceau, 75008**
This elegant venue, owned by the group behind Loulou, is a stylish choice. I’ve only dined outside on the beautiful terrace during the summer, but a quick glance inside revealed that every table is a good one—a commendable feat in restaurant design.
**69 Rue de la Fontaine au Roi, 75011**
Though not a new establishment, this store deserves a special mention as one of my favorites in Paris. Primarily secondhand, it features excellently curated small-batch items, including vintage Petit Bateau overstock from the '60s and ceramics by Anne-Sophie Matrella.
**7 Rue de Thorigny, 75003**
This traditional Japanese ryokan in the Marais has received rave reviews from several friends. They offer classic sento bath rituals, shiatsu, and tea, with exceptional massages.
**7 Rue Rouget de Lisle, 75001**
Located near the must-visit shopping trifecta of The Row, Bode, and Charlotte Chesnais in the 1st, is the new sister restaurant to Alfi’s, which I cherish. Yes, The Row’s Paris location is stunning, complete with Prouvé doors in the fitting rooms, but even before the exchange rate shifted to $1.19 for a euro, it was pricier than in the U.S.
**23 Rue de Grenelle, 75007**
This cute shop just opened last Friday in Saint-Germain and has a charming vibe. The owner is reminiscent of a character from Amélie, offering "almost 100% French flowers."
**56 Rue Amelot, 75011**
With Greek Cypriot cuisine, shared mezze, and a warm atmosphere resembling a friend’s dinner party, this Greek spot has captured the attention of the fashion crowd over the past year. Be sure to try the orange blossom frozen Greek yogurt; it’s absolutely delicious.
**More Spots on My List**
Hotel Massé, 32bis rue Victor Mass
