It's Official: The Top Shoe Color to Pair with Blue Jeans Was Viewed as "Outdated" Just a Year Ago.
One could easily contend that any shoe color pairs well with blue jeans. While this might be accurate, I believe certain colors truly elevate denim. Naturally, you can't go wrong pairing denim with black, white, or red shoes. Although the focus has recently been on chocolate brown and burgundy, the shoe color worn by Elsa Hosk is quite distinct. While strolling through L.A. in a Valentino leopard-print coat and blue jeans, Hosk opted for a surprising choice: cognac leather pumps from The Row. As you can see in the pictures below, the warm cognac tone beautifully contrasts with cool blue denim. Personally, I wasn't considering cognac brown at this time last year. Like many others, chocolate brown dominated my thoughts, and cognac—a medium-brown shade sitting between camel and espresso—wasn't on my radar. However, it has begun to gain relevance again, with trendy brands like The Row, Miu Miu, and Reformation embracing it in their winter 2025 shoe collections. Moreover, Hosk is a trendsetter when it comes to shoe colors (and other fashion aspects). To witness how well blue jeans and cognac shoes complement each other, continue scrolling, and consider shopping for cognac brown shoes for your own collection if Hosk inspires you to get a pair.
