Elsa Hosk recently sported the pant trend that appears so luxe, you'll think it's out of your budget.
Some fashion pieces inherently convey a sense of luxury more than others. Suede (or high-quality faux suede) can make the wearer appear affluent, and the same is true for leather, silk, or cashmere. A well-made wool coat exudes an image of wealth, particularly when paired with leather gloves. There are numerous techniques to enhance the perceived value of your outfits, and one has recently received significant endorsement. During the Thanksgiving holiday, Elsa Hosk shared a series of photos on her Instagram showcasing her family celebrations, one of which featured the model and designer wearing an ensemble from her brand that included a set of cream corduroy pants. The wide-leg, textured trousers elevated her outfit's sophistication with their soft, luxurious look, relaxed tailoring, and light hue. (Admittedly, the ensemble also included a faux-fur Helsa jacket and an Hermès Kelly bag, but that's a topic for another time.)
On Elsa Hosk: Hermès bag; Helsa Dramatic Collar Faux Shearling Jacket ($429) and The Baggy Trouser in Corduroy ($299). What distinguishes corduroy pants—particularly in cream—from jeans, leggings, or classic black trousers is their color and texture. Hosk styled her Helsa pair with another textured piece, but when cream corduroy is combined with a simple tee or sweater, it becomes the focal point of your outfit because of its unusual fabric and softness. This effect is similar to that of velvet or suede, materials that also exude an air of luxury. The color cream is often associated with an expensive look as well. Wearing pants that can easily show spills projects an effortless and carefree attitude towards one’s clothing (even if the wearer is actually being cautious). This color theory holds true for any cream-colored bottoms, whether you favor silk trousers or tailored slacks. Even ecru jeans fit this description. However, the most luxurious option this winter is cream corduroy pants, which is why I've compiled several choices, ranging from a $31 pair by Gap to Hosk's exact style from Helsa, below. Enjoy.
