I spoke with the mother of four about the gifts she's planning to give her kids, friends, and close relatives this year, as well as her gifting tips, family holiday traditions, and which item she looks forward to giving—and receiving—most. We don’t focus heavily on indoor decorations—currently, our friend Haik spruced up our backyard with some charmingly imperfect pumpkins. The true spirit of the season comes alive when everyone is together in the family room, lounging on the couch and floor, totally engrossed in football. My son probably asks Alexa for player stats around 25 times each game. And my kids request Alexa to play “I like to move it move it” even more often. Do you have any holiday traditions? We always make it a priority for John’s family to be with us, regardless of where we are. And then there’s football. Oh dear, the football! Oh! I maintain a consistent menu each year—I suppose that counts as a tradition? The only variable is how we prepare the turkey. Twenty years in, and I’m still on a quest to discover the best method. However, we recently got an amazing smoker (from Amazon!), which has been producing some fantastic meats, so fingers crossed! Do you have a gift-giving plan for this year? This year, I’m aiming to strike a balance between gifting products from beloved brands, like the ones listed below from Coach, Laneige, Ninja, and Shark, along with plenty of presents from Amazon Essentials.       What gifts are you most excited to give this year? Stockings are definitely my favorite part. We always ensure that everyone who joins us receives their own personalized stocking, resulting in mantels so loaded that I worry they might collapse by morning. Aside from stockings, I enjoy giving people items they will frequently use but typically don’t buy for themselves, like a beautiful chef’s knife (ahem, Cravings!), cutting boards, light masks, and luxurious face and body creams. The Shark Hair Dryer is also a personal favorite. My daughter Luna loves styling her hair in the mornings, and her lovely curls benefit from the diffuser attachment.

      Is there anything special you hope to receive this year? You know, I rarely focus on my own gifts as I genuinely don’t need anything. However, I could really use an extra-large mixing bowl—specifically, a comically oversized metal mixing bowl, not a set of nested ones. With so many people to cook for, I often find myself breaking recipes into frustrating steps because I usually triple everything, and none of my bowls are big enough for making everything at once! So I’m hoping this reaches John… um, Santa… somehow. Are you a last-minute shopper? I would say I shop right up to the deadline, but I truly enjoy it throughout the year. There have been times when fast, free Prime shipping has really saved me—whether it was buying random Girl Scout patches for a next-day troop meeting or food warmers I volunteered to bring to school.
