Ayo Edebiri has just demonstrated that this chic shoe trend pairs perfectly with light-wash jeans for the winter season.
Ayo Edebiri has consistently been a top source of outfit inspiration for me since her collaboration with celebrity stylist Danielle Goldberg, and she recently earned a spot on Vogue's 2025 Best Dressed list. It’s no surprise that she inspired me again with her outfit at the world premiere of 20th Century Studios' Ella McCay in L.A. this week, sporting light-wash blue jeans and black-and-white heels. For this event, Edebiri opted for a look from Chanel's 2026 Métiers d'Art show, which was an especially suitable choice given the collection's beauty and her status as one of the brand’s newest ambassadors. Her ensemble included straight-leg light-wash jeans and black pumps featuring a diamond-shaped white cap-toe design, which was a reverse colorway from what was seen on the runway. (Or perhaps I should say the subway platform?) She completed her outfit with a simple white T-shirt layered beneath a long, sparkling tunic adorned with a black satin bow.
On Ayo Edebiri: Chanel top, jeans, and pumps.
I've always thought light-wash denim is one of the most sophisticated shades, though I don't typically wear it in winter. Given that L.A.'s weather isn't like the East Coast's at this time, it makes sense for Edebiri to embrace the lighter tones. Despite the airy wash and the absence of a jacket, the outfit still felt seasonally fitting thanks to the shoes. The color-block heels, primarily black, provided warmth to the denim, while the touch of white added elegance to what many consider casual pants.
Seeing this look has inspired me to pull out my light-wash jeans and style them with color-block heels this winter. If you're interested in doing the same, keep scrolling to browse my selection of the best light-wash jeans and black-and-white heels to pair together now.
