However, a few trendsetters have opted to move away from these two styles, reintroducing a somewhat outdated option into their winter wardrobes: leather pants. This elevated denim replacement offers warmth, luxury, and just the right amount of edge.

      Hailey Bieber was the first to take the plunge. On a recent trip to Tokyo, Japan, the Rhode founder took a break from her usual vintage Levi's (sourced, as always, by Denim by Orlee) to revive leather pants. Her outfit featured straight-leg, cropped leather pants paired with a vintage brown Issey Miyake jacket, a Phoebe Philo clutch, black kitten heels, and a retro Mercedes-Benz baseball cap. To complete her look, she added a pair of all-black wire-rim sunglasses.

      One outfit does not establish a trend, even with Bieber leading the way. However, two outfits tell a different story. About a week after Bieber shared her leather-pant look on Instagram, Alexa Chung followed suit, posting a slideshow on her feed after New York City's recent blizzard, showcasing her take on leather pants. The British style icon braved the weather in classic leather pants, an oversized peacoat, a cream scarf, and vintage cat-eye sunglasses with yellow lenses. “The city that never sleets and my new, old personality glasses that I won't stop talking about,” she captioned her photos. While Chung’s eyewear clearly stood out, my attention was drawn to her leather pants. The trend is definitely making a comeback.
