      To delve deeper into the history, present, and future of this esteemed French heritage house, I connected with Marketing Director Mathilde Corbin. Founded in 1643, the brand gained prominence among monarchs and courtesans from 1719 onward. "Trudon played a pivotal role in illuminating the Château de Versailles during the reign of Louis XIV, who established it there," she shares. "With Trudon's involvement, it became the official candle supplier to the French royal court." The brand's emblem, inspired by a bas-relief from the old royal wax factory owned by the Trudon family, still showcases the arms of Louis XIV along with a Latin motto that translates to the bees work for God and the king.

      Napoleon Bonaparte later gifted one of its pillar candles to his wife, Joséphine de Beauharnais, upon the birth of their first son. "Despite the challenges of political and industrial revolutions, the Trudon house has prevailed," Corbin notes. Today, the brand is celebrated for its wide range of candles (handmade in Normandy, France), perfumes, home fragrances, and bodycare products. The perfumes stand out to me for their beautifully intricate compositions, which draw inspiration from significant moments and figures in French history and beyond. "Each Trudon fragrance provides perfume enthusiasts with a distinct trail marked by unique and high-quality creations," Corbin explains.

      Trudon perfumes are unisex, made with top-quality ingredients, and crafted to be worn individually. Recently, the brand introduced the Nuit Rouge collection, showcasing distinctive olfactory blends. Corbin describes these as "bolder, more unique" while utilizing raw materials and revisiting fundamental notes in perfumery: vanilla, iris, woods, and leather. According to Corbin, each fragrance is reinterpreted with Trudon's signature style as a tribute to luxury and sensuality. "This collection reveals powerful yet graceful trails, enveloping the wearer in a radiant aura of extravagance tempered by elegance," she adds.

      Among Trudon's popular fragrances are Midnight Omen and Vixi, while candles like Ernesto, Cire, and Cyrnos are crafted by French perfumer Émilie Bouge. The brand collaborates with other perfumers as well, including Yann Vasnier, the creator behind 45°, Mortel, and Médie.
