As a child, one of my cherished holiday traditions was squeezing into the family car to drive around and admire Christmas lights. While I always enjoyed the display of lights, my favorite homes were those showcasing large Christmas trees in their front windows. I loved peeking into how other families decorated for the holidays, a fascination that remains with me today. Nowadays, we have Pinterest and Instagram offering an abundance of holiday decor ideas at our fingertips. If you're anything like me, you enjoy browsing through other people's holiday decorations for fresh inspiration to incorporate into your own home.
Below, I’m sharing some stunning holiday decor ideas from various sources that you can easily replicate in your own space. Whether you prefer a lavish setup or just a few subtle festive touches, these ideas will inspire you to adorn your home this season.
1. Adorn candlesticks with bows

Bows are a staple of holiday decoration, and there are countless charming ways to use them. I particularly love the aesthetic of long, floppy bows tied around candlesticks. This look is both chic and effortless and makes a significant impact when grouped together. Opt for frayed velvet ribbon for added texture, and let the ends hang for dramatic effect.
2. Enhance shelves with holiday accents

Bookshelves are excellent for holiday decorating. The good news is you can maintain much of your existing decor and simply swap in a few festive touches. Replace standard taper candles with tree-shaped ones, include decorative houses or Christmas trees, and add ribbons to vases or busts as shown here. A little garland can also enhance the overall look.
3. Fill your mantel with candles

On chilly evenings, is there anything cozier than a room bathed in flickering candlelight? You can never have too many candles this season, and I love the idea of filling an entire fireplace mantel with a variety of shapes and sizes. If layering candles within garland or other decorations, opt for flameless versions to eliminate fire hazards. Not only are they safer, but they’re also easy to switch on and off with a remote, avoiding the hassle of lighting each candle.
4. Line your table with paper accordion trees

These paper trees are currently one of my favorite holiday decor ideas. The accordion texture is playful and easy to style. Just select a few in various sizes and place them along your mantel or down your dining table. Many are designed with magnets to stay open, allowing for easy storage at season’s end by folding them flat for reuse next year.
5. Refresh your entryway with festive touches

I love the idea of adding small holiday accents throughout your home, including often-overlooked spaces like the entryway. A few decorative items—a miniature tree, some framed art, and a garland—can create an inviting holiday vignette to welcome you home.
6. Wrap sconces with greenery swags

This holiday decorating idea is straightforward yet makes a significant visual impact. You can purchase pre-made greenery swags or create your own by layering several stems. Secure the greenery to the sconce with floral wire, and finish with a hand-tied bow, letting the ribbon ends trail for a relaxed look.
7. Overlap your stockings

In my childhood home, we hung our stockings in a long row across the mantel, but these days, it seems much more stylish to cluster them to one side. Use hidden clips to secure them under your garland instead of bulky holders, allowing the stockings to slightly overlap. This creates a more intentional look and lets the garland stand out. You can also incorporate additional accents like velvet ribbon or jingle bells.
8. Drape greenery around your front door

While my front entryway may not appear as grand, I adore this simple yet festive exterior style. To replicate this around your front door, you'll need a long garland (or several shorter ones connected), so make sure to measure beforehand. Then, use exterior-rated Command hooks or traditional nails to hang it in an arch around your door.
9. Hang a wreath on a mirror

Wreaths aren't only for front doors; they're equally festive indoors. You can hang one on an interior door, but a more unexpected option is to place one on a mirror. To do this, loop some ribbon (or clear fishing line for invisibility) through the wreath and attach it to the
