If you were to review my credit card statements, you'd notice at least one or two Old Navy charges each month. It's my go-to destination for a seasonal update, whether that means refreshing my basics or adding a few exciting new items to my wardrobe. So, when I discovered they were launching their first-ever bag collection, I began eagerly counting down the days. All the bags from this Old Navy launch are worth exploring, but one particular style stopped me in my tracks: the Carrie bag.
While I proudly maintain my loyalty to Old Navy, it seems others might have overlooked it. I can hardly scroll through TikTok without seeing someone talk about Old Navy's "comeback." If you haven’t yet embraced the brand's current revival, allow me to assure you: Old Navy is the brand to watch this fall.
With Zac Posen leading the way as Chief Creative Officer, this launch of bags marks another addition to a series of stunning fall releases. The new Bag Shop features three collections: Preppy, Romantic, and Carrie. These were designed with real individuals in mind, merging trends with practicality and functionality. I’m declaring it now: the Carrie bag—available in various styles and sizes—is the affordable must-have bag of the season, and you don’t want to miss out.
“The kind of bag you can carry every day, but that still gets noticed.” —Zac Posen
The Old Navy Carrie Bag Collection
I’m not alone in thinking the Carrie is the standout piece from this collection. Zac Posen shared, “Every piece is thoughtfully designed with clean lines, great proportions, and materials that feel elevated without being overworked. The Carrie Tote is a standout for me—it’s simple, structured, and effortless. The kind of bag you can carry every day, but that still gets noticed.”
The Carrie style pays homage to Carrie Donovan, a fashion editor who became a star in Old Navy's TV campaigns in the ’90s. From what I gather about this fashion icon, the bag certainly reflects her effortlessly chic aesthetic. We can’t help but think that Carrie Bradshaw would also endorse this bag (especially in the blush pink option).
Choosing which bag to buy will be the most challenging part, as it comes in three styles: a crossbody ($30), a medium tote ($35), and a large tote ($45). You'll find it in five leather colors and three suede options. Moreover, the crossbody is also offered in faux calf hair cow print, which is extremely trendy this fall.
The Carrie tote bag exemplifies a high-end look at an affordable price. Its slouchy yet structured silhouette resembles designer bags from The Row and Loewe. Its square shape and middle strap evoke a similar feel to a Hermès Picotin. This bag also has celebrity backing, with recent sightings on Jenna Ortega, Shailene Woodley, and Brenda Song.

If I were to choose one bag from this collection, it would be one of these eight styles. The rich earth tones (or striking red) and stunning materials provide the perfect touch of texture to any fall outfit.
