Crystal-Inspired Nail Designs Are Set to Be Trendy This Spring—Here Are 9 That I've Already Pinned for You.
There’s an abundance of reasons to appreciate spring. First off, the weather is becoming pleasantly warmer, and it’s my favorite season to break free from boring nail routines. While we aren’t really supposed to *truly* hibernate during winter, I sometimes get lazy and stick to familiar nail designs, neglecting to try something different. Or, I might skip getting my nails done entirely (*gasp*). Now, I’m changing that, and my seasonal mood board is reaching new heights. Recently, as I've been exploring my usual sources of inspiration, I've stumbled upon countless exciting ideas—ranging from the best short nail styles to the trending colors of the month. One trend that caught my eye is crystal-inspired nail art. I’m not referring to just your standard rhinestones; I’m talking about authentic stones like rose quartz, tiger's eye, and others! This truly excites me, especially since I’m a reiki healer and a passionate crystal lover. I’m not alone in my admiration—nail artists everywhere are on the same page.
Celebrity nail artist Rachel Sun thrives on creating these types of looks. “I love making encapsulated designs that allow you to see inside the nail, resembling a crystal ball or marble paperweight,” she explains. “It adds depth to nails that you don’t typically achieve with 2D designs while still keeping an elegant silhouette.” The article continues with Berkeley-based nail artist Alyssa Nader, who also adores unique designs. “I love incorporating real materials like crystals, pearls, glass, and abalone,” she notes. “Classic rhinestones are quite fun too. I prefer an abstract style that expresses impressions and emotions rather than literal interpretations. I work intuitively and layer elements to shape the design as inspiration strikes. I am also working on exercising more restraint!” Above all, Nader enjoys thinking outside traditional boundaries, with real crystals serving as an ideal medium. “I value innovation and creating things I haven't encountered before, which adds another exciting element to working with crystals—transforming something typically seen in nail art and putting my unique twist on it,” she adds.
If you want to elevate your nail game this season, you should continue reading. Nader and Sun shared some of their favorite crystal nail designs below.
Watermelon Tourmaline
Sun drew inspiration from the vivid hues of watermelon tourmaline for this nail design, a rare crystal found in locations like Brazil, Nigeria, and Maine. It's defined by its distinctive green and rose shades, which Sun captured beautifully on this stiletto nail set. This design holds a special significance for her. “[It’s] my all-time favorite design,” she states. “[They] incorporate multiple layers of color and metallic beads embedded within. The metal beads add depth and create a lifelike crystal-like texture.” I immediately added this to my mood board, and even though I, ahem, won’t be attempting this at home due to my limited skills, Sun suggests using jelly polishes or polygel to achieve the effect. Her favorite jelly polishes are from Après Nail (some are featured below).

Tiger's Eye
This rich, lava-like set created by Sun evokes the beauty of stones like tiger's eye. This silica gemstone is recognized for its stunning gold, orange, and brown swirls, making it ideal for a fresh spring nail look. The set includes tiny bits of gold glitter for added sparkle. While this design might be intricate and better suited for a nail artist, you could bring some small gold flakes or glitter to personalize it.

Black Tourmaline
Black tourmaline is one of my favorite protective crystals that I frequently buy from my local shop. I consider this a sign from the universe to wear that protection differently—like on my nails this season. Sun's design took my breath away; it captures the deep midnight tones of the stone while some pieces of raw tourmaline also feature a slight pomegranate hue within them. Even if your budget doesn’t allow for a salon visit right now, try Mooncat Polishes; they offer the same depth, rich color, and dimension as this look for a lower price!

Imperial Topaz
Imperial Topaz is a highly sought-after red, orange, and golden stone primarily found in Brazil. This rare golden variety serves as a fantastic inspiration for fresh nail ideas. Sun's liquid gold-orange swirling nail design is another of her favorites. Although it may be challenging to replicate at home, Mooncat's Taipan Venom shade offers a similar tone and dimension.
