We did it! At last, it's the first Monday in May, signaling that the most fashionable celebrities and trendsetters are making their way up the iconic steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the 2026 Met Gala. This year, the museum will feature an exhibition called Costume Art, with the event's dress code themed "Fashion Is Art." Guests were encouraged to "express their personal connection to fashion as an embodied art form and honor the myriad representations of the dressed body throughout art history." So far, many attendees have adhered to this request, although a few have opted for more unconventional choices, which can be a bold move given the usual backlash against looks that don't align with the theme. As expected, cohost Beyoncé rose to the occasion, appearing alongside her daughter Blue Ivy Carter, who made her debut at the Met Gala tonight.

On Blue Ivy Carter: Custom Balenciaga; Jimmy Choo Alia Crystal Covered Pointy Toe Pumps ($4900). For tonight's gala—her first in ten years—the Cowboy Carter singer collaborated with Olivier Rousteing, the former creative director of Balmain, to create a striking silver, skeletal naked dress complemented by a matching crown reminiscent of her sister Solange's Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination headpiece from 2018, along with a feather cape. (At her last Met Gala in 2016, she wore a peach latex dress by Givenchy.) The crown wasn't her only ornate accessory; she also partnered with Chopard to curate an impressive selection of diamond pieces, including an 18K white gold necklace featuring a 6.41-carat brilliant-cut diamond and an additional 140 carats of diamonds. Plus, she had a bracelet, earrings, and rings to complete the dazzling ensemble.

A diamond necklace adorned with a yellow diamond pendant was the focal point of her outfit, while her brown cat-eye sunglasses added an effortlessly cool vibe that only a 14-year-old could master. Yes, she is 14, and indeed, we feel old as well. On the red carpet, Beyoncé beamed with pride, exclaiming, “She looks so beautiful,” while commenting on sharing [her first Met Gala] with her daughter. She also praised her daughter's posing for the cameras, stating, “She was ready! She is ready.” Check out the mother-daughter duo from various angles below.
