Nevena Zakirova: the blog image is me.
In an exclusive interview, blogger and actress Nevena Zakirova talked about the choice between cinema and blogging, viral trends with Shaman, and the song "Sigma Boy."
If your acting character and your blogging persona met in an elevator, who would be the main one?
— Of course, the main one would be the blogging persona. The blogging persona is me. My individuality. Without any changes. And individuality is always above all.
In what genre of cinema would you shoot your own blog if it were a movie: comedy, thriller, or road movie?
— I think it would be in the genre of comedy. Humor is a wonderful thing! I always try to incorporate it into my videos. There is a lot of negativity in the world around us, and I really want to see at least those positive notes of life in cinema.
If you had to choose: to lose the ability to act in films forever or to delete your most popular blog — what would you choose and why?
— If I had to choose, I would keep the blog and give up the opportunity to act in films. For me, the blog is entirely my product: from the idea and content to the final presentation, I control every stage and communicate directly with my audience. In cinema, I am part of a large collective process, where the final result depends on many people and decisions. And the blog is my personal creativity, my responsibility, and my direct dialogue with those for whom I create all this. Therefore, despite my love for cinema, I choose what entirely belongs to me and directly serves my audience.
What advice would you give to an actress who wants to start a blog but is afraid?
— My advice: create your own content, because when you work for yourself, you can definitely achieve success! This success depends only on you and your work ethic, not on the decision of a third party (director, producer). Create, compose, and rely only on yourself in this life.
Your biggest fear: that viewers will remember you only as "that one from Social Networks" or as "the actress of one film"?
— I am not afraid of either. I am generally ready for everything in life.
What is more difficult for you: to play a complex scene in a take or to go live when the algorithm "drops" the reach?
— Honestly, nothing of this is difficult for me — because I am a professional actress. Playing a complex scene in a take is my job. I know how to live emotions, keep focus, and trust the director and partners. This is what I have learned. And going live is just another form of presence. Yes, there is no right to a take here, but there is the energy of live contact with the audience. I do not fight with the algorithm — I communicate with people. And this, like any sincere scene, requires not fear, but preparation and involvement. Professionalism lies in not dividing tasks into "difficult" and "easy," but doing what is needed — qualitatively, with full dedication.
Describe your blogger "backstage" in one word.
— Comfort.
What negative news or hate comment became the most unexpected source of inspiration for your new video?
— There hasn’t been such news or comment. After theater school, no hater is scary. I think I have already gotten used to both adequate and inadequate criticism. I am glad that I came to this at the age of 26.
Has it ever happened that you are shooting a blog, and in your head is the text of a role from a script?
— No, that has not happened.
Is it true that advertising in a blog brings more than a fee for a small role in a series, or is it a myth?
— Yes, it’s true! You can earn well from advertising. Cinema is very unstable and brings income less frequently than advertising on VKontakte. In general, blogging is more reliable than cinema or any other project-based creative activity. As I said earlier, the blog is always with you!
What social media trend do you hate but filmed a video for because "it has to be done"?
— A couple of months ago, singer Shaman went to Baikal and licked it. People immediately picked it up and started making parodies of this stunt. Those videos annoyed me, but I thought that if I filmed a similar parody, it would hit. So, I filmed it.
How often do you use neural networks or prompts to create ideas or posts?
— I haven’t had to yet, but I think I will come to this soon. Sometimes the thought that AI will replace human labor scares me. So I try to do everything myself. Even in everyday life, I hardly use artificial intelligence.
What is more important for a close-up in Stories: light from a ring lamp or a sincere smile?
— Both are important! A sincere smile will be endearing. In a world full of hate, aggression, and darkness, a smile is always perceived as a ray of sunshine. And it’s better not to forget about the technical part either. People love beautiful, clear, and well-structured visuals. There are no small details when creating content!
If you had to blog using only the props available in your makeup room on set, what content would you create?
— I think I would make parodies of famous actors. A lot of bright, beautiful clothes + makeup, wigs. I think it would turn out great!
What sound or track currently trending would you like to "ban" forever?
— The trend for that sound has faded now, but whenever I remember "Sigma Boy," I feel bad.
If your phone could talk and run its own blog, what would it write about first?
— I think it would complain to the audience that it doesn’t get to rest and is constantly in hands. It’s a funny question.
Who is more dangerous for your content: a malicious hater or an overly intrusive fan who knows your schedule?
— I am afraid of intrusive people. I have one like that; he writes something strange and indecipherable under every one of my videos. There aren’t many haters. A couple of times, I received nasty messages in my DMs, but there hasn’t been a wave of hate.
How often do you comment under other bloggers' posts, and who are these bloggers — competitors or friends?
— "I comment moderately — I don’t set myself the goal of being everywhere at once, but I also don’t disappear from sight. And I primarily write to friends. For me, a comment is a way to support a close person, rejoice in their success, or just react to an important moment. And I don’t have competitors. I don’t feel them.
If you could sell a "package" of 1000 of your Reaction videos — what would you buy with that money first?
— Nothing. I would save it and accumulate.
In five years, you will be: shooting auteur cinema or collaborating with young bloggers?
— I wouldn’t want to predict the future. Often, when you predict and fantasize, it tends to either not come true or come true in a specific way. I live here and now.
The last thing you bought just for a "pretty shot" in your blog?
— A set of fake mustaches.
If you could erase one of your posts or videos from the internet forever — what would it be and why?
— I regret nothing. Everything I did led me, to some extent, to a result. I did everything right.
