Brooke Averick stands out in a select cadre of TikTok creators. She belongs to the small group of wildly successful creators who gained rapid popularity on the app during the pandemic. Right from the start, Averick’s authenticity and quirky personality resonated with thousands across the platform—from Gen Z to millennials—making her videos feel like conversations with a friend.
Before gaining recognition in the content creator realm, Averick was influencing young minds as a preschool teacher in Philadelphia. When she uploaded her first TikTok during the COVID-19 lockdowns, she had no idea it would go viral and drastically change her career path. That single instance of connecting with an online audience inspired her to leave teaching and pursue something new. By 2021, she relocated to Los Angeles and briefly joined a content house as she navigated the creator space.
It didn't take long for Averick to branch out beyond short-form videos. She co-founded Brooke and Connor Make a Podcast, a humorous, conversational show that quickly garnered a following for its wit and raw energy. The podcast revealed a different aspect of Averick—one that flourished in longer, spontaneous storytelling.
In 2024, she launched her own solo podcast, Obsessed, focused on the joy of fandom and wholeheartedly enjoying what you love. The show was a reflection of Averick’s sincere, enthusiastic character; however, she eventually stepped back when a new creative pursuit emerged. That pursuit resulted in her debut novel, Phoebe Berman’s Gonna Lose It, which follows an almost-30-year-old on a quest to lose her virginity—an engaging love story that is both humorous and heartfelt.
