What is your overall makeup aesthetic? Which looks do you lean toward?

I enjoy experimenting with makeup. I don’t adhere to a specific look. For me, makeup, fashion, and hair are forms of self-expression rather than a means to appeal to others. Since I feel like a different person each day, I allow myself the freedom to ask, "Who am I today? Who do I want to be?" Makeup, along with clothing, hair, and nails, has a transformative power, so it varies daily. I must admit, I’m only comfortable with one or two looks on myself, so when I don't have the privilege of working with my amazing makeup artist Kale Teter, I tend to stick to the same style. I love a cat eye, a smoky eyeliner that looks like I just woke up, cream blushes, and a bold lip. Recently, I'm into fluffy brows. I easily get bored, so I like to switch things up.

What person do you feel like today? How did you do your makeup to reflect that?

I haven’t done any makeup yet today! Unless I’m heading out, I don’t usually apply much makeup. I might put on a bit of cream blush, but I never leave home without lip liner to define my features. Typically, I don’t wear makeup unless there's a specific commitment. When I go out today, I’ll likely do a smudged tightline eyeliner, fluffy brows, some sunscreen, and that’s it.

Is there a specific eyeliner, blush, lip liner, and brow grooming product you love?

Recently, I’ve been using soap for my eyebrows. I spent years thinking I had super-thin brows, only to realize they naturally gather toward the center. With a strong soap brow (any soap works), I create a bold look. I really love the Urban Decay 24/7 Gel Eyeliners; they are great. I do a black smoky tightline during the day with a bit of mascara for that "I just woke up" vibe I adore. Urban Decay's brown lip liners, like 1993 and Hidden Truth, are favorites of mine too. I love that '90s cool-toned effortless lip style.

I’ve yet to find my favorite blush. Sometimes, I use lipstick as blush or whatever I have in my purse. I mix it up and grab whatever is nearby, but if you have suggestions for good deep, cool-toned berry cream blushes, I’d love that.

Oh, that’s totally my style, so I have plenty to share. We’ll have to talk about it later.

I was going to say, "Text me!"

You were blonde for most of your life and have said you’re done with bleach now. You look incredible as a brunette! Has this change impacted your beauty routine?

I feel like my face can handle a lot more makeup now, given the greater contrast. Being fair-skinned, my blonde hair matched my complexion, which often made my makeup appear heavier. Now, with my darker hair, I can wear more bold makeup without looking overdone. I have to fill in my brows more now since they’re lighter than my hair. I have naturally cool-toned blonde hair, so skipping brow filler looks crazy on me.

I’m sure someone more knowledgeable about color theory could explain better, but I couldn’t wear anything berry before without feeling overwhelmed. Now, I can experiment with bolder lip colors, which is fantastic for me. With darker hair, I can enjoy more makeup options.

As an aside, I may go blonde again in the future, but I'm not eagerly counting down the days. Regarding eyebrows, I spent so long thinking I had thin, unhealthy hair without realizing that frequent bleaching stunted its growth. Now, I appreciate having healthier hair without the bleach, but I do get bored; I’ll probably end up blonde again eventually. I believe in the importance of changing your mind and embracing new beginnings.

It's vital to see public figures discussing relatable and human experiences.
