Last night, the New York Knicks triumphed over the San Antonio Spurs with a score of 107 to 106 in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, marking an incredible comeback that had the whole city excited, including celebrity attendees such as Kylie Jenner, Timothée Chalamet, Ben Stiller, Alana and Este Haim, and Taylor Swift. While I acknowledge that beauty trends may seem trivial compared to this monumental victory, I cannot overlook some of the daring styles I noticed courtside, particularly from Swift, who is rumored to return to Madison Square Garden for her wedding to Travis Kelce in early July. (I have my own theories!) Swift, as always, arrived at the arena adorned with her signature red lip (she is said to favor Pat McGrath's LiquiLust: Legendary Wear Matte Lipstick in Elson 4), but she also endorsed two more understated looks that I anticipate will be popular in summer 2026: fishtail braids and baby blue manicures.

Let's begin with the braid. This isn't the first time Swift has worn a fishtail ponytail—she styled her hair this way, without the blue ribbon, during a dinner at Chez Margaux last November—but it still remains an underrated hairstyle from the 2010s. Perhaps Swift has caught wind that 2026 is going to echo 2016? The braid seems perfectly suited for summer, possessing a mermaid-like essence ideal for festival season. Complemented by her iconic eyebrow-grazing bangs and a few loose strands framing her face, Swift's look is both sporty and ethereal.

Regarding the manicure, Swift matched the theme with a light blue set adorned with fluffy cloud nail art—a direct nod to sky blue. She actually showcased this manicure days earlier at the Los Angeles premiere of the eagerly awaited Toy Story 5, cleverly referencing the original character Andy's cloud wallpaper. It makes sense that she would keep the blue manicure for the Knicks game, though I can’t ignore the increasing popularity of frosty blue nails this summer. In fact, celebrity nail artist Julie Kandalec previously referred to this shade as the "cooler sister to the glazed donut nail," as it adds a lovely pop while remaining universally flattering and subtle. I'm sure nail trends were the last thing on Swift's mind when selecting a polish to go with her "Stevie Knicks" T-shirt, but I can't help but think that, even if unconsciously, she's given her stamp of approval to this stylish color trend.
