The "Future History" award is launching a search for film ideas: an additional nomination for "Screenplay Submission" is now open.
On June 15, 2026, Moscow. The International Literary Prize in the field of science fiction "History of the Future" announced the introduction of an additional nomination in the second season — "Screenplay Application."
The nomination was created in partnership with the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization "AUTHOR," established to support and develop the social institution of authorship and enhance the competitiveness of Russian cinema. The flagship project of the organization is the "AUTHOR" scriptwriters support program, within which more than a hundred screenwriters have already received support and are writing screenplays for feature films and series.
The created screenplays are in high demand in the film industry market, and projects regularly receive government support.
The nomination is introduced with the aim of searching for and selecting original science fiction ideas that have the potential for adaptation into feature films, series, or animation projects. The organizers consider the screenplay application as a preliminary document that allows for the assessment of the project's concept, its dramatic development, target audience, and production prospects.
Only authors participating in the current season of the prize in the categories of "Best Short Story" and "Best Story for Children and Adolescents" can submit work in the new nomination. Each participant is entitled to submit no more than one screenplay application, strictly adhering to the competition's theme.
"We deliberately introduced this nomination as an additional opportunity for our authors," commented the PR director of the International Literary Prize "History of the Future." "Those who have already proven themselves in short prose now have a chance to showcase their ideas in a format that is as close to the industry as possible. Essentially, this is a bridge between literature and cinema, and we hope to see projects that will subsequently interest producers," shared Sergey Shikarev, the responsible secretary of the organizing committee, critic, and researcher of science fiction.
Winners of the "Best Screenplay Application" nomination will receive monetary rewards:
1st place — 500,000 rubles;
2nd place — 250,000 rubles;
3rd place — 150,000 rubles.
The application submission starts on June 10, 2026. The current form and detailed participation conditions are available on the official prize website. All conditions are on the Prize website.
The final will take place in Moscow on December 4, 2026, at the "Atom" Museum at VDNH.
