Chanel has just forecasted the top shoe color trend for 2027, and it’s one that might surprise you.

Just when I believed Matthieu Blazy couldn't surpass his previous shoe collection for Chanel, his latest couture presentation for the French brand emerged this week, demonstrating once again that the Parisian designer should never be underestimated. Blazy showcased a total of 62 stimulating looks on the runway during Chanel's F/W 26 couture show, some of which featured a shoe color trend I've been eager to see revived for a while. I felt that no brand had executed it well enough for me to consider re-entering that realm. It should have been evident that Blazy would be the one to achieve it.

The designer's now-popular dipped-toe pumps received a metallic upgrade, with styles ranging from leopard-print to burgundy suede being dipped in liquid gold or silver. There’s even a pair made of silver pony hair with an oversized white heel and a dipped gold toe. Another version includes a black toe paired with a dipped gold heel and embellishments that lend an ethereal quality, perfectly matching the nature-inspired atmosphere.

I've been watching this shoe color trend for quite some time, feeling certain it would return but lacking substantial evidence to confirm it. Sparkly silver footwear appeared in Gucci's S/S 26 collection, and online, a variety of subtle options are available, including sleek, futuristic thong sandals. Recently, Alaïa, Valentino, and Loewe have also incorporated more metallics into their footwear offerings. A pair was even seen in Chanel's viral Métiers d'Art collection launched in New York, but it wasn't until now that the brand fully embraced the trend.

What makes this specific shoe trend so thrilling is how long metallic shoes were considered "out." They had developed a bad reputation and simply required a creative touch to bring them back into the spotlight, introducing fresh styles and ways to wear them. Plus, their surprising versatility is remarkable. Think of them as jewelry for your feet. Whether you choose gold or silver, they will complement any outfit—just maintain consistency or go bold with a two-tone pair (coming soon to Chanel if you're looking for couture shoes). Pair gold sandals with old jeans, a white tee, and a tailored jacket for a chic yet polished dinner look this fall, or opt for striking silver sandals to elevate all your wedding guest dresses this summer.

Below, explore the best available styles.
