How frequently do you use or recommend drugstore beauty products? My phone is always accessible for my clients, even after hours. Consequently, I receive numerous "skin-mergency" texts. While I can't physically assist them, I guide them in navigating drugstore aisles. I direct my clients to drugstores more than 15 times a week.

As a facialist and dermatological nurse with expertise in aesthetics, what would you say to someone who believes only high-priced products are effective? In your experience, can drugstore beauty items truly affect one’s skin quality? When I was in nursing school, I sold high-end luxury products in department stores and thought, "It doesn't get better than this. These products are so expensive; they feel luxurious." However, I was mistaken. As I learned more about ingredients and formulas, I realized something crucial: many of us allow marketing to influence our choices. A $5 lip balm can easily outperform a $225 one; it solely depends on the formula, not the brand or price tag. It’s vital to do your research; there are numerous online tools available to compare products and analyze ingredients. It’s always beneficial to find what works with your beauty budget instead of against it. Drugstore beauty products can indeed improve someone’s skin, hair, and makeup routine.

What tips do you have for successfully navigating the drugstore beauty aisles to find quality products? I enjoy shopping at drugstores because it allows for ample space and time to browse without rush. However, you lack the support you’d receive at a beauty department store or guidance from a facialist or aesthetician. One piece of advice I have is: if you are unsure, don’t buy it. Just say no, take a photo, and go home to research. Numerous online resources are available for product reviews from influencers. Take your time to assess products before purchasing.

      Aguilar's Favorite Drugstore Products

Cetaphil Restoraderm Eczema Rapid Relief Cream: "As an aesthetician, I wash my hands around 30 times a day. Despite using luxurious products, I also utilize disinfectants and exfoliating acids while frequently donning gloves. Clients often inquire about the flawless appearance of my hands, but the reality is my overworked hands need constant care. I always have a bottle of Cetaphil Restoraderm Eczema Rapid Relief Cream on hand. One of the key ingredients is 2% colloidal oatmeal, which is often difficult to find, as many products only contain 1%. Colloidal oatmeal is soothing, relieves itching, and reduces inflammation. This cream not only calms my hands and body but also repairs, strengthens, and alleviates irritation. It has been effective in soothing minor rashes and provides immediate relief without stinging. Plus, it’s fragrance- and color-free."

Boudreaux's Butt Paste Max Strength Diaper Rash Cream: "After becoming a mom, I became enamored with zinc-based diaper creams! I noticed that skin irritations would disappear almost immediately. It’s now a staple in my home and many of my clients’ homes. Occasionally, I get texts from clients about eczema patches, scratches, allergic reactions, or bug bites. I quickly send them the red tube of Boudreaux's Butt Paste Max Strength, which contains 40% zinc oxide. Since it’s safe for babies, it’s certainly safe for our skin. Zinc oxide creates a protective barrier, mitigating redness and irritation, and it has natural antibacterial properties. Just use a thin layer, as it can be heavy, and
