Fact: The sunglasses that every WWW editor is sporting will be out of stock by August 1.
"Oh, they're heavy!" "These are nice." "I need a pair of those." These were just some of the remarks I received when I brought several boxes of ALO sunglasses into the Who What Wear office in Los Angeles this week on the day the lifestyle brand launched this category for the first time. The collection, featuring six unique styles from ultra sporty to sleek and refined, premiered on July 22. Just a day later, some pairs—like the yellow-lens aviators that my coworkers Chichi and Judith quickly snatched—had already sold out. I predict the rest will be gone by August 1. After that, good luck trying to find any of the six styles.
But before we dive into that, let's discuss the launch. The eagerly awaited collection was conceived in Los Angeles, ALO's headquarters, but produced in Japan, which is renowned for high-end eyewear production. Classic rectangular and cat-eye styles offer a timeless, everyday appeal, while the trendier alternatives—the styles flying off the shelves the fastest—have that immediate, cool-girl vibe. To commemorate the launch of the full collection, ALO collaborated with filmmaker Bardia Zeinali, photographer Stuart Winecoff, and a roster of prominent figures, including Lila Moss and Amelia Gray Hamlin.
This launch follows an incredible summer for the brand, which included a tour of the South of France on a custom yacht, with appearances at the Cannes Film Festival, the Monaco Grand Prix, and Saint-Tropez. They also released a viral online training campaign featuring Jake Shane, along with a variety of new fitness colorways, such as Satsuma Breeze and Azure Blue (one of Alexandra Leclerc's top picks for summer 2026). The ALO summer continues with eyewear, a category we can only assume will evolve into one of the brand's most favored.

The Aviators
When I saw these at a preview months ago, I knew they would be the first to sell out. With their colored lenses and oversized fit, everything indicated they’d become an instant hit. Made from Japanese acetate and sleek gold metal, they have a designer quality.
The Skinny Ovals
If you’re a fan of the '90s, ALO’s new Skinny Oval sunglasses are perfect for you. Available in black and tortoiseshell, they embody the effortless, cool aesthetic reminiscent of '90s icons like Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. Well, and you, if you manage to get a pair before they’re all sold out.
The Rectangles
For a timeless, anti-trend choice, opt for the Rectangle sunglasses, which are offered in black and tortoiseshell and feature a slightly larger frame compared to the Skinny Oval—ideal for those seeking a bit more coverage. If you, like me, frequently wear Wayfarers, this is a fantastic option to mix things up while staying within your comfort zone.
The Cateyes
Who can resist a striking pair of cat-eye sunglasses? They strike a perfect balance between being a statement piece and a classic investment. While they may come and go in the "trend cycle," I've always felt that this style deserves a spot in my collection.
