It’s true: This £23 perfume has received more compliments than my £230 favorite.
I confess, I have a bit of a discerning taste when it comes to high-end perfumes. My job has allowed me to experience some of the most exquisite fragrances globally, and they certainly aren't inexpensive. As a result, I've cultivated a taste for more luxurious scents, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. So, when I met my friend for brunch and caught a sniff of one of the most sophisticated perfumes I’ve encountered, I inquired about it and was surprised to learn it was from Zara.
I've previously written about Zara's fragrances and consider them among the best budget-friendly options available. However, I didn't realize they could be this impressive. The moment I discovered the name of the scent my friend was wearing (Zara Golden Decade, by the way), I visited the brand's website and was thrilled to see it was priced at just £23. Honestly, it's rivaling my £230 perfumes. The only drawback? This fragrance often sells out quickly. It’s finally back in stock, so I thought now would be the ideal time to share my thoughts, but if you wish to experience it for yourself, you’d better hurry... Zara Golden Decade.
ZARA
Golden Decade Eau de Parfum
Key Notes: Mandarin, orange blossom, lavender, vanilla
If you’ve considered purchasing this perfume, you may have noticed several variations available. Yes, Zara has expanded the Golden Decade line because of its popularity, and I'm definitely not complaining about it. That said, let's discuss the original. This radiant, sensual scent truly turns heads, featuring mandarin, orange blossom, lavender, and vanilla notes. While it begins with a bright, citrus fragrance, the warm, sweet undertones soon develop on the skin, creating a captivating blend that feels both elegant and contemporary. It’s the perfect transition from desk to date night, enveloping the senses in a fruity, floral aroma.
As mentioned, different versions of the perfume are now available, and I must say, they are just as enchanting as the original. Although some of my favorites have already sold out, you can currently find Golden Decade Elixir, a more intense, concentrated version of the beloved scent, and Golden Decade Sweet, a gourmand fragrance that emphasizes vanilla notes. Honestly? I haven’t encountered a version I dislike. You might think that for £23, the scent wouldn't last long, right? Incorrect. Thanks to the warm, rich base, this fragrance lingers on the skin much longer than you'd anticipate from a high-street perfume. Additionally, with its affordable price, I don’t mind carrying a smaller bottle in my bag for touch-ups throughout the day. I usually have hesitations about trending perfumes, but I know Golden Decade will be a lasting favorite in my collection for years ahead.
