Lo Bosworth is a multifaceted individual. She is the founder and CEO of Love Wellness, an innovative brand emphasizing gut, vaginal, and hormonal health. She's also a new mother, having welcomed her daughter, Nell, earlier this year. Additionally, she is recognized as one of the stars from the iconic early 2000s reality series, Laguna Beach (which my fellow millennials will certainly recall). However, she is not a beauty snob. Bosworth is well acquainted with drugstore aisles and has been using many of her favorite budget-friendly beauty items for years. Her brand, Love Wellness, prioritizes affordability and accessibility, with many products priced under $25, available at major retailers like Target, Ulta, Walmart, CVS, and Amazon. As Who What Wear's dedicated editor focused on drugstore finds, I cannot think of anyone better to discuss affordable beauty and wellness than Bosworth. She understands that high quality does not always mean high prices, and she recognizes how drugstore options can make beauty and wellness accessible, offering effective solutions for everyone. Below, she shares a glimpse into her drugstore shopping cart, featuring her go-to personal care products, an iconic $13 mascara, and more.
How frequently do you use drugstore beauty products?
I use them quite often. Since having my daughter Nell, I find myself at the drugstore all the time for baby wipes, diapers, and other necessities. As a new parent, it’s just part of the routine. I’ve always enjoyed classic drugstore picks, which feature prominently in my daily beauty and wellness regimen.
Do you believe drugstore products can be as effective as high-end ones?
Definitely. Sometimes I think they might even be more effective. When you compare ingredient lists, drugstore products often contain similar formulas to their high-end counterparts. In many instances, the drugstore item is actually the original, and a luxury brand creates a similar version because the original is so well-liked.
Hello
Antiplaque and Whitening Fluoride-Free Toothpaste - Natural Peppermint
"One of my current favorites is Hello Antiplaque & Whitening Toothpaste. It's an excellent everyday toothpaste that I’ve been using for some time. I really appreciate the ingredients. Everything Hello produces is carefully formulated with globally sourced components. Their products are vegan, cruelty-free, and free from dyes, artificial sweeteners, and artificial flavors, which are all important to me. Since I run a wellness brand with a similar approach to formulation, what is absent in a product is just as crucial as what is included."
Aquaphor
Healing Ointment
"My second choice is Aquaphor Healing Ointment. It's a universal staple in my routine. I rediscovered it after having Nell since we used it for many baby-related needs, and now it has returned to my personal regimen. It’s an incredibly versatile product."
CeraVe
Moisturizing Face & Body Cream
"I also enjoy CeraVe Moisturizing Cream. It’s straightforward, dermatologist-recommended, and emphasizes repairing the skin barrier. Barrier repair is currently a significant topic, and CeraVe has always been a trustworthy option."
Love Wellness
pH Balanced Cleanser - Fragrance-Free
"Another favorite is Love Wellness pH Balanced Cleanser, available at drugstores like CVS. It's from my own brand and aligns with a formulation philosophy similar to Hello. It's fragrance-free, sulfate-free, paraben-free, ob-gyn developed, and clinically proven not to disrupt vaginal pH with daily use. It's certainly one of my drugstore essentials."
Hello
72-Hour Aluminum-Free Deodorant - Sunny Daze
"For deodorant, I've been enjoying the Hello Sunny Daze Deodorant. It has a wonderful scent, reminiscent of a tropical cocktail. As a new mom, my routine has changed quite a bit, so I seek out small self-care moments that add joy to my day. This deodorant is one of those little things that lifts my spirits."
CoverGirl
Lash Blast Volume Waterproof Mascara
"I've been using CoverGirl Lash Blast Volume Waterproof Mascara for years. I firmly believe that drugstore mascara can be just as good as high-end versions—if not better."
La Roche-Posay
Anthelios Clear Skin Dry Touch Face Sunscreen SPF 60
"Lastly, I absolutely love La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF. It's a fantastic sunscreen and a staple in my drugstore collection."
Lo Bosworth's seven drugstore beauty and wellness essentials total just $72.
