      Whenever I'm asked for a solid recommendation for nail polish or a gel nail alternative, I’ve lost track of how many times I've suggested Essie Gel Couture nail polishes along with the Gel Couture Top Coat. This combination not only provides the same plumped appearance as gel polish but also allows me to enjoy my manicure for about 10 days without significant chipping, as long as I reapply the top coat every few days. Honestly, it’s my go-to for nail polish.       Essie’s Gel Couture polishes are among the most long-lasting I’ve used, so I was excited to try this shade. I actually purchased it at the beginning of summer while browsing at my local drugstore, and I’ve been wanting to use it now that we’re moving into fall.

      This is definitely one of my favorite shades from Essie. Caviar Bar is a deep, rich navy color that gives your nails an inky, dark look, as well as an amazing plumped and glossy finish that truly resembles gel polish at first glance. The best part? No gel lamp is needed. You just apply two coats and finish with the top coat (which is one of the best I’ve ever used). I particularly enjoy this shade on shorter nails, as it exudes a certain chic vibe.

      Essie suggests refreshing the top coat on the seventh day, but I prefer to reapply every few days to extend the wear. By following this routine (and as long as I'm not too rough with my nails!), I can usually keep my manicure intact for about 10 days with minimal chipping. Since this is a darker shade, any chips are more noticeable compared to a sheer or light pink. Nevertheless, I adore this color and the outcome. It’s the perfect navy shade to embrace the upcoming season.
