Presenting Haider Ackermann's Concept for Tom Ford.
The moment has arrived for Haider Ackermann to present his vision for Tom Ford, the American fashion label he assumed control of last September. (Ackermann succeeded Peter Hawkings, the previous Creative Director, who held the role for just a year after Ford's exit.) While there have been a few glimpses through custom outfits for Timothée Chalamet, I think I speak for everyone in fashion when I say we need more. On Wednesday at 19:00 Paris time (1:00 p.m. New York time), the former Berluti designer and current creative director at Canada Goose held his inaugural runway show since joining Tom Ford. The venue was dark and dimly lit, featuring diverse paths for models such as Vittoria Ceretti, Mona Tougaard, Alex Consani, Lulu Tenney, and Sara Caballero to walk down, showcasing a blend of exquisitely tailored suits (a hallmark of Ackermann), gowns, and separates in vibrant pastels, neon colors, and futuristic neutrals like navy and gray. In a press release, he discussed this equilibrium, which is reflected throughout the 55-piece collection. "Joining the house built by Mr. Tom Ford, I felt an attraction to the man himself, whose essence resonates in everything he dreamed up," Ackermann expressed. "He embodies nightlife. I represent the morning after: This is where our dance begins." Ultimately, the designer successfully retained Ford's sexy, sultry image while also initiating a new chapter for the brand that is distinctly his own. After the finale walk, the fashion elite stood in applause, giving the Colombian creative a well-deserved standing ovation. Even Ford himself stood, smiling proudly. The moment the two designers—Tom Ford's past and present—embraced, the fashion world recognized it as a triumph. For further insights into Ackermann's vision for Tom Ford, continue reading.

Only the Most Fashionable Attendees Present at the show were Tom Ford himself, embracing Ackermann when he emerged from behind a mirrored industrial curtain, clearly showing approval for the designer's debut collection. Kate Moss, Anna Wintour, Doechii, Lou Doillon, Law Roach, Marisa Berenson, and Karen Elson were all there to witness Ackermann's historic first collection unfold.

Future-Focused Tailoring If there's one thing Ackermann is renowned for in the fashion industry, it's his precise tailoring, a top-tier skill he has demonstrated in every fashion position he's held, including this latest high-profile one. In his debut collection for Tom Ford, he showcased his tailoring prowess in various styles—double-breasted suits so sleek they could signal the end of relaxed, baggy suiting, as well as more casual matching sets and outerwear. One thing is certain: Tom Ford customers will undoubtedly look polished and tailored come fall 2025.

A Comprehensive Wardrobe Ranging from a classic Tom Ford robe to a wedding-ready white gown, Ackermann's initial collection for the American brand encompassed looks suitable for every occasion life presents. There were office suits, elevated elastic-waist joggers for impromptu errands, pastel gowns for gala events, micro minidresses for nights out, and even leather ensembles ideal for the back of a vintage Harley. Whatever the Tom Ford woman's or man's schedule entails, Ackermann's F/W 25 collection has their outfit covered.

Double the Impact Midway through the show, two of the decade's most celebrated supermodels—Tougaard and Ceretti—walked the runway together, with Tougaard leading in a low-cut tuxedo-style gown and Ceretti following closely in a strapless dress adorned with a delicate white brooch and a thigh-high slit.
