After enduring months of gray skies and lengthy nights, the prevalence of dark, heavy clothing was starting to feel a bit suffocating. The reappearance of vibrancy, even if subtle, has been a refreshing change. While I’m looking forward to the bold colors of high summer, right now, during these early days of spring, there’s a particular styling technique I’ve noticed on the streets of London and New York that has captured my attention—one that embodies the season’s rising optimism.

      Instead of diving straight into bright colors, the fashion-forward crowd is adopting a more subtle approach: infusing a gentle wash of color into neutral ensembles with a method I refer to as the colorful jumper theory. This styling trick entails layering a vibrant knit over an otherwise understated outfit. The outcome? An effortlessly easy look that feels completely rejuvenated. I’m naming this the colorful jumper theory.

      Throwing a bright jumper over the shoulders of a simple outfit—such as classic jeans and a t-shirt—immediately elevates the ensemble, adding depth, interest, and a soft yet uplifting accent.
