Our editors experimented with numerous new spring items—these 14 top selections stood out as the cream of the crop.
Welcome to The Great Try-On. With spring in full bloom, we took the chance to try on some of the best new arrivals from your favorite brands, documenting the experience as we went. We believe the ideal way to shop online is to see items in real life and read honest reviews, so we hope this assists you in making your best purchases of the year. When tasked with a project, the Who What Wear editors always aim for excellence. So, it was no surprise that when The Great Try-On for spring 2025 came around and we explored the shopping streets of London to evaluate the latest collections, our team returned with a wealth of opinions, photos, videos, and expert insights. We certainly tried hundreds of products, ranging from trench coats to T-shirts, jeans to dresses, and numerous accessories. Our editors split up, with some focusing on the best of the high street while others sought luxury items worth the investment.
While you'll find in-depth reviews for each brand here, below are the standout 14 items that impressed us the most, whether for their quality, timelessness, wearability, or sheer beauty. Suede jackets were a highlight this year, with Zara and Massimo Dutti offering the best versions, according to Deputy Editor Maxine Eggenberger and Editor in Chief Hannah Almassi. It was no surprise that Toteme also wowed us with its stunning barn jacket design, while their jeans were another unexpected hit. Contributing Editor Chloe Street tested the much-coveted Bottega Veneta Andiamo bag, which passed with flying colors. Don’t overlook COS’s delectable chocolate brown linen-blend dress, which News Writer Natalie Munro predicts will be the summer's must-have piece (it’s both chic and comfortable!). H&M and Sezane are also competing for the top trench coat—this might require a bit of personal judgment.
Seeing countless products in our daily work makes us quite discerning, so you can trust that these 14 key items excel in every aspect. Scroll down to read our editors' reviews and shop all the featured pieces now.
1. **ZARA SUEDE LEATHER JACKET**
Maxine's Review: "Like many others, I've been contemplating getting a suede jacket for months but hadn't found the right style. I adore blazers, but needed a jacket that complements all my outfits—jeans, dresses, skirts, everything. Sometimes a blazer just doesn't suffice. Before visiting the store, I quickly browsed Zara.com for inspiration. There are no guarantees the items I liked online would still be in-store, but it certainly helps to have a list of things to watch for. As soon as I found this jacket, I knew I had struck gold. Even online, the suede looked high-quality, and I appreciated the barn jacket style applied to a premium material. Imagine my surprise when I found a full rack of them tucked away in the corner. They were nicely displayed, and there was ample stock—a rarity in Zara stores. I picked up a medium, tried it on and was impressed. It’s substantial, features solid hardware, and has an elevated feel. The lining is well done, and it hangs perfectly from the body. Its roomy fit (I'm wearing a medium) allows for layering, but I can also envision it styled over a tee with blue jeans or a cotton skirt when the weather warms. For full transparency, I didn’t make a purchase during my try-on since I'm on a spending pause until the end of the month, but I'm really hoping it remains available when I resume shopping."

2. **TOTEME TWISTED SEAM FULL LENGTH JEANS**
Emily's Review: "I was incredibly impressed by the fit and shape of these jeans. While the stiffer raw denim style doesn’t scream spring, I had been in search of the perfect darker, smarter jean for so long that I ended up buying these exact ones. They paired really well with just a simple white tank top, making them versatile for summer and into autumn/winter as well. Here, I'm wearing a size 27 with a 30-inch leg and have mid-heel boots on for reference. The lighter blue version is perfect for spring and incredibly versatile. If I didn't already own plenty of jeans in this color, they would have joined my wardrobe too. At 5'2", I found the full-length style puddled charmingly over my loafers, producing a cooler straight-leg vibe compared to cropped styles (these are size 27 waist, 30 length).
