I Recently Tried On H&M's Newest Collection—Here Are My Top Picks for Transitional Spring Items.

      Spring has officially arrived—I’ve said it! The spring equinox has finally come, allowing us to dress lighter, brighter, and more comfortably for the upcoming season. Personally, I’m thrilled to shed my heavy leather and wool jackets, thick thermal layers, and chunky boots that weigh me down.

      Now, I can opt for softer layers and more breathable fabrics, possibly even baring an ankle or two. Currently, the weather is teasing us before the long-sought T-shirt days of summer arrive, but we Brits sincerely appreciate and cherish "light jacket weather” and the mood boost and relief from seasonal affective disorder it provides.

      While shopping on the British high street for spring, I find myself primarily looking for wardrobe staples—items I know I’ll return to frequently to anchor any outfit throughout the year. I continually strive to refine my capsule wardrobe; the more concise the selection, the better. I prefer to dress simply and without overthinking my outfit choices in the morning, so investing in timeless pieces and classic items has become my standard approach.

      This strategy allows me to feel chic and effortless in no time—a quality I’ve admired in stylish French women for ages. This thought process fits perfectly with the spring season; I can easily throw on a simple T-shirt, jeans, and a lightweight jacket with a stylish handbag, resulting in an outfit that comes together almost effortlessly. I’m also drawn to outfits that transition seamlessly from day to night, enabling me to swiftly switch to a pair of sling-back kitten heels from desk to dinner. Et voilà!

I aimed to explore their latest collection, find some simple yet sophisticated pieces on a budget, and selfishly allow a bit of sunshine into my day before the typical London clouds inevitably rolled in.       My Review: I have always been a fan of any clothing item in a chocolate hue. It’s softer against my skin than black and instantly adds a luxurious touch to any outfit; deep brown is something I’m naturally drawn to in any store. It exudes quiet luxury like no other color, pairing beautifully with denim and soft beige tones, and if you’re feeling trendy, shades like butter yellow or powder pink would also complement it wonderfully.

      This short jacket has all the charm of a classic trench coat, but the cropped design allows for a more casual, overshirt-like wear, making it comfortable and relaxed when worn indoors. Cropped trenches are trending among fashion enthusiasts, so I know I’m in good company with this high-street version. Made from 100% cotton, this piece feels premium and soft on the skin. Though it’s sold out online, it is still available in stores.

      I paired it with a premium silk-blend white tee and high-waisted, deep-blue flared jeans, which felt slightly '70s yet thoroughly modern. For accessories, I chose black heeled boots with this season’s trendy square toe and a faux-fur leopard-print shoulder bag. I selected a large size for the trench, which was perfect for my UK size 10/12 frame, while the tee and jeans were in a UK 10.
