Jennie Garth is widely recognized for her iconic portrayal of Kelly Taylor in the groundbreaking teen drama Beverly Hills, 90210, having entered the limelight at the age of 19 in 1990. Throughout the following decade, she became a household name and a prominent presence in ’90s pop culture. To many fans, Garth personified Kelly—a glamorous, layered character whose challenges and successes resonated with millions. However, being so closely associated with one role can create difficulties, and Garth faced the task of advancing her career while respecting the show that propelled her to fame.
Rather than becoming stagnant, Garth chose to embrace versatility. She ventured into the sitcom realm with What I Like About You, co-starring Amanda Bynes, where she showcased her comedic talents in a multi-camera setup. She then appeared on the beloved series Dancing with the Stars, expressed her experiences in a memoir titled Deep Thoughts From a Hollywood Blonde, and explored reality TV. Nevertheless, she never completely moved on from Kelly Taylor. In 2008, she thrilled fans by reprising her role in the CW’s 90210 reboot and in 2020, collaborated with longtime friend and co-star Tori Spelling on the 90210MG podcast, a nostalgic recap series that keeps the legacy of Beverly Hills, 90210 alive.
Now, Garth is harnessing her past into impactful media with her I Choose Me podcast—a tribute to one of Kelly’s most notable lines, “I choose me,” from the original series. Her podcast delves into personal growth and self-empowerment, while her clothing line, Me by Jennie Garth, provides women with stylish, confidence-boosting attire. In 2023, she hosted the inaugural I Choose Me summit, an event aimed at inspiring and uplifting women.
Garth’s career exemplifies a balance: seizing new opportunities while honoring her roots. Tune into the latest episode of Second Life to discover how through acting, podcasting, and designing, Garth is not only redefining her own identity but also empowering others to do the same.
