I attended all the major runways in New York, Milan, and Paris—here are 5 trends to expect in 2025.
Fashion month has concluded, leaving behind a series of runway highlights poised to influence the upcoming seasons. Few have a clearer perspective on future trends than April Hennig, chief merchandising and marketing officer at Moda Operandi. After an eventful circuit through New York, Milan, and Paris Fashion Weeks, she has observed which trends are gaining traction among designers who are redefining fashion norms. Fresh from her flight back from Paris, I spoke with Hennig to discuss the main insights—think bold yet subdued colors, innovative textures, and eye-catching maximalist details. With her industry knowledge and keen sense of what will soon dominate fashion, she provided a strong argument for five key trends that will shape the next chapter in fashion.
Can you share a memorable moment from fashion month?
In February, we introduced Alfie Paris and celebrated by hosting a dinner at Le Relais d'Entrecôte during Paris Fashion Week—the very first fashion dinner at this iconic Parisian steak frites venue. One of the most fulfilling aspects of my role at Moda is launching new emerging talent, and turning this celebration into a lively, nostalgic Parisian experience made it unforgettable.
Which show that you attended became your personal favorite?
I was profoundly impacted by Alaïa’s show at Pieter’s new atelier. He explored experimental boundaries through technical innovation and exaggerated silhouettes. The atmosphere was intimate and powerful without feeling pretentious.
Were there any looks that made you want to immediately leave the room in them?
"I love the idea of 'perfectly imperfect.'" — Hennig
"I appreciate the contrast of sequins layered over leather." — Hennig
"I was captivated by this look on the runway, and when we debuted Fforme in Trunkshow this season, I pre-ordered it." — Hennig
"Sarah Burton's debut at Givenchy was exceptional. This reversed coat dress beautifully enhances the female form and is destined to be a collector's item." — Hennig
"The leather bomber is poised to be the standout silhouette for the upcoming season. This particular piece emphasizes the legs and gives the impression that you're not wearing anything underneath. The pageboy cap could be the must-have accessory for fall." — Hennig
