16 TV Shows We Hope Would Never Have Ended

At The Everygirl, while we often rave about the latest shows to catch, it's time to focus on a more serious topic: canceled TV shows. It feels like everywhere I turn, a cherished series has come to an end, whether it reached a satisfying conclusion or not. As I explored further, I noticed we're nearing the conclusion of several shows we've invested years in watching. As the list gets longer, so does my disappointment.

Some of these series have been axed without any notice, while others have shared that this year’s season will be their last. I'm not sure if that’s a positive or negative aspect, although it might mean we get a more definitive ending with those shows. So, tissues ready, here’s a rundown of the recently canceled TV shows we’ll truly miss—including where to stream them.

      1. **Stranger Things**

       **Stream on Netflix**

I expected this news, and I’m genuinely saddened by it. The Stranger Things series became a cultural phenomenon, gathering a massive following, and is known for some of the finest writing in Netflix history. However, despite its record-setting debut, much of the initial excitement has diminished as each subsequent season has taken longer to release (we're talking years… we’re exhausted). The sci-fi horror series will conclude with its fifth and final season, which is set to air later this year (exact release date is still unknown).

      2. **Cobra Kai**

       **Stream on Netflix**

Drawing from the beloved film The Karate Kid, Cobra Kai has released its sixth and final season this year. The drama and emotions these episodes stirred in me… It’s hard to bid farewell, but it might be better for my mental health. Unfortunately, splitting the sixth season into three parts led to a significant decline in viewership, particularly for the final part. The entire season was released over seven months, causing many viewers to drift to other shows in the meantime.

      3. **The Handmaid’s Tale**

       **Stream on Hulu**

The Handmaid’s Tale will wrap up with this sixth and final season, and I’m actually okay with that. The story's arc is naturally closing, and I hope this season’s conclusion will tie everything together satisfactorily. Fans are disappointed about the series ending, but it won’t be for long! Hulu has confirmed that a spinoff show is in the works based on the sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale novel, The Testaments, by Margaret Atwood.

      4. **Kaos**

       **Stream on Netflix**

This cancellation hits me the hardest, as I found the show thoroughly enjoyable! After just one season, Netflix canceled Kaos due to low viewer numbers and high production costs. I will genuinely miss my dear Jeff Goldblum as the hilariously inept god.

      5. **Outer Banks**

       **Stream on Netflix**

I’m not at all surprised that Outer Banks is coming to a close. Each treasure hunt has taken the group further away from home, and we’re ready for their return to the OBX. Initially, the appeal was rooted in the coastal lifestyle; now, seasons later, they have diverged from the story we loved. The upcoming final episodes are hinted to bring the Pogues back home, providing hopefully a strong conclusion to the series.

      6. **The Sex Lives of College Girls**

       **Stream on Max**

Don’t get me started on my frustration regarding this one. UGH. The cancellation was completely unexpected, and even the showrunners were blindsided by it. Although the Season 3 finale concluded on a positive note, many storylines remain unresolved, and I genuinely hope another network picks it up. For now, it’s a tearful farewell.

      7. **Squid Game**

       **Stream on Netflix**

Netflix's breakout hit, Squid Game, has announced that its third season, set to launch in late June, will be its last. We’ll miss it, but the story is arriving at its necessary and timely conclusion (there's nothing worse than a show dragging on too long). Given the major cliffhanger at the end of Season 2, I’m simply hopeful that this last season will provide a satisfying resolution to the horrific games.

      8. **The Summer I Turned Pretty**

       **Stream on Prime Video**

The beloved love triangle will come to an end with its third and final season this July. Showrunner and author of the source material, Jenny Han, stated in an interview, “Three books, three seasons,” so I can’t be overly upset about the show concluding at its natural end. Though I’ll miss this summer series, I’m ready for some resolution. Plus, all my fellow Conrad fans are feeling the tension (Bonrad for the win, please).

      9. **You**

       **Stream on Netflix**

Joe Goldberg's story has finally reached its end (for real this time) with the release of the fifth and
