This SPF is likely the most talked-about beauty release of 2025 to date—here are my genuine opinions.

As a fan of Jones Road Beauty and a long-time admirer of makeup artist and founder Bobbi Brown, I was thrilled to learn about the brand's upcoming launch of a facial SPF—and so was the rest of the internet. In fact, Jones Road Everyday Sunscreen is among the most eagerly awaited beauty releases of the year so far. Brown has a great talent for achieving a "no-makeup" look, and I've been consistently impressed with the foundation and base products released by Jones Road. It's only fitting that Bobbi would apply her natural aesthetic to sun protection with the new Everyday Sunscreen (£40). I received a sample prior to the launch, and I was eager to try it out.

      **Jones Road Everyday Sunscreen**

      **Pros**

      - Available in a non-tinted option as well as four tinted color-correcting shades

      - Pigments are formulated to correct color and provide a light layer of coverage

      - Offers SPF 30 protection

      - Highly moisturizing formula, suitable for dry and mature skin

      - Acts as an excellent hydrating primer

      - Delivers a dewy finish

      **Cons**

      - Might be too heavy for oily or combination skin types

      - Mineral formula may leave a white cast on deeper skin tones

      - May not offer sufficient coverage for those who prefer a full-coverage base

      **The Formula**

This sunscreen features a mineral SPF formula with an SPF of 30. It has a texture similar to a rich, hydrating moisturizer upon application. I tested one of the tinted shades (Sunny, the lightest of the four); however, there is also an untinted variant available for those who prefer no pigment.

      **Before Application**

Although marketed as tinted SPFs, the products are more geared towards color correction than providing a traditional shade match, in my view, which makes them excellent as primers under foundation or skin tint. When I applied Sandy, it initially appeared a bit chalky (as expected from a mineral, zinc-based formulation that can leave a white cast), but as I blended it, it became more harmonious with my skin tone, reducing redness and creating a more even appearance. I wouldn’t say it gives much coverage (more of a sheer tint), so if worn alone, you might want to add a concealer for any blemishes.

      **After Application**

From the first application, the formula feels incredibly nourishing and hydrating on the skin. After a few minutes, it absorbs well and leaves a dewy glow. Once settled, it provides a subtle coverage, though I did apply a bit of concealer on some acne scars and redness in certain areas.

      **The Verdict**

To start, I appreciate the concept behind this sunscreen and genuinely like the formula. It’s particularly outstanding for individuals with dry skin. However, due to my oily skin type, I find this SPF a bit too rich for me (unfortunately). That said, this is definitely not a bad sunscreen. It would work wonderfully for those whose dry skin requires persistent moisture throughout the day or for anyone looking for an SPF that also serves as a makeup primer.

It’s extremely hydrating (I didn’t feel the need to apply a moisturizer beforehand), and if dryness is a concern for you, it makes for a fantastic moisturizing primer under makeup for a dewy, plumped appearance throughout the day. If you have oily or combination skin and prefer a matte finish, you might want to skip this product. Conversely, if you enjoy a dewy glow, you may find it sufficient to wear alone without foundation for a healthy radiance.

My main recommendation is to try a tester before making a purchase. Why? Because there are four color-correcting shades (from Apricot, a deep burnt orange, to Sandy, a light beige) that offer subtle color correction. While I haven't tested the two darker shades, I do express concerns about how well-suited any of these mineral sunscreens are for darker skin tones and the adaptability of each hue. Additionally, the untinted version may also leave a white cast, so I recommend exploring our top SPF options for darker skin tones.
