This is unfiltered beauty at its best. This month, we had the pleasure of chatting with Gracie Abrams. The 25-year-old Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter was recently named Hourglass Cosmetics' global brand partner, and we were fortunate to discuss with her her favorite makeup products, her top beauty advice, and even her signature scent.
1. Which beauty product gives you the biggest mood boost?
I’d have to say the Hourglass Veil Hydrating Skin Tint. It’s the final step of my skincare routine and helps me feel a bit more even-toned as someone who deals with acne.
2. You've got a blemish. Do you pop it or leave it alone?
I tend to pick at my face, which makes me grateful to work with a brand that has fantastic complexion products. Deep down, I know I shouldn’t be touching my face. I’m trying to mature!
3. If you could only use one product for the rest of your life, what would it be?
For me, it's blusher. It makes me feel more awake, whether I’m onstage or off.
4. What’s the best beauty advice you’ve ever received?
Less is more. That resonates with me overall. I prefer to feel as natural as possible in my skin. Also, it's important to remember that everyone's face is uniquely shaped. There’s no universal method for applying makeup. With the overwhelming amount of content available, it’s crucial to listen to your own body.
5. Do you prefer dewy or matte finishes?
Dewy. I don’t mind looking a little sweaty sometimes; that doesn’t bother me, so I’d choose dewy.
6. What’s your go-to nail color?
Lately, it's silver. I had silver nails recently and liked it, but I rarely paint my nails because of playing guitar. That’s my unexciting answer!
7. What’s your beauty philosophy in a single sentence?
Just do what feels like you. I’ve had moments with a lot of glam, and I’m left thinking, “Who is that?” I always appreciate a more natural look.
8. What’s your favorite lipstick shade?
The Hourglass Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balm. I adore this product because regular lipstick often feels chalky, and I’m particular about texture. This is incredibly hydrating and wonderful. The shade Impulse is a brick red that makes me feel vibrant and alive.
9. What beauty mistake do you avoid?
I’m not a fan of powder. I dislike a completely matte look, so I would say that. I think it's important to do what makes you feel good. That's the essence of using beauty products—finding what feels right for you.
10. Name a beauty product you always carry in your handbag.
The mini Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer. It's about a third the size of the regular one. If I grab a coat and check the pocket, I’ll often find two of them there along with my bag or backpack. That and a solid brow gel are my essentials.
11. What’s your signature scent?
Another 13 by Le Labo.
12. What’s the best drugstore product you can get for under £10?
Aquaphor. It's my favorite and has been a staple for as long as I can remember.
13. Describe your eyebrows in one word.
Quite straight these days. I've never let anyone shape them, and I sometimes regret that because it feels like I black out when I try to groom my eyebrows, and then I come to and wonder, "Where did the tails go?" But for now, I'm just going to let them be.
14. What’s your worst hairstyle memory?
Oh, there was a time in high school when I cut my hair very poorly, and I recently saw photos of when I had long hair that I didn’t maintain properly, and the ends were quite damaged. My bob feels great to me now; anything else wouldn’t feel right at the moment.
15. Makeup primer: love it or hate it?
I love it for performing. I find it incredibly useful. I know that by using it, I’ve taken an extra step to ensure my makeup stays put. However, since I prefer to apply my makeup quite minimally, I don't always reach for a primer.
16. How often do you clean your makeup brushes?
I don’t clean them as frequently as I should. I use my fingers for many applications and wash my hands constantly
