The retailer's famous Anniversary Sale occurs annually, presenting a great opportunity to save on brands like Rag & Bone, Paige, and Coach—you get the picture. My personal history with this sale is quite significant. It began during my elementary school days when back-to-school shopping meant stocking up on Converse, skinny jeans, and a new backpack. This year, it's all about kitten heels instead of sneakers, barrel jeans instead of slim fits, and acquiring a couple of new work totes. To capture the essence of this year's sale, I sent my colleague Anneliese Henderson to the flagship store in NYC on West 57th Street. With assistance from two skilled Nordstrom stylists, Coulson Bingham and Modesto Abreu, Anneliese curated the most stylish outfits for now and the upcoming fall season. Is this when you focus on larger investments or everyday necessities? Anneliese Henderson: A mix for sure! I've been anticipating the Anniversary Sale for as long as I can remember. Growing up in Sacramento, even with temperatures exceeding 100° during the sale, my mom and I would always search for fall essentials in preparation for back-to-school. Although I'm no longer returning to class, I still use the sale as a prompt to prep for my fall wardrobe. I prefer browsing the preview first to identify which items I need to purchase quickly. This year, it was denim and shoes—the selection was outstanding.

      What was your experience working with the Nordstrom stylists? What suggestions did they have? Were any of their recommendations unexpected? I had never collaborated with a Nordstrom stylist previously, but now I can't imagine shopping at the store without one. The stylists were incredibly attuned to both the available items and my personal style preferences. It felt as if they could read my mind. They even introduced me to a few pieces I didn’t think I’d like. Flare jeans? Just a week ago, I would have said no way. Now, they’re a must-have in my wardrobe.

      Can you describe this look? I notice you're wearing another lovely pair of kitten heels. Are you surprised to see me in yet another pair? Well, don't be. I'm genuinely obsessed. But let’s take a closer look at these balloon jeans that have utterly won me over. You know jeans are special when they feel as comfy as sweatpants. I could wear these all day long. My stylists suggested keeping it casual with a cardigan—which I would have buttoned up had it not been for their idea to leave it unbuttoned and wear a tank underneath—and a croc handbag. I can already tell I’ll be receiving compliments the moment I step outside.
