How the Most Popular Levi's Jeans Fit in Real Life
I’m a genuine denim enthusiast, but as someone who stands just 5’0”, locating the ideal pair of jeans can be a challenge. The frustration of trying on various sizes to find that perfect fit often discourages me from purchasing new denim altogether, yet the indigo shades and unique fabric of jeans always seem to beckon to me. Levi’s is one of my preferred brands when I’m searching for a new pair of jeans. This classic denim label has been a staple in my wardrobe as well as that of my loved ones for as long as I can recall. The fits from Levi’s are consistently reliable. Those nostalgic commercials featuring people dancing in their latest 501s remain a fond memory for me. Since my frontal lobe fully developed, my body has also changed, with wider hips, thicker thighs, and a different waistline, which signifies that I need to find new jeans. While I adore the pairs I currently own, they haven't adapted to my new shape as well as I hope. For reference, in Levi's jeans, I typically wear a petite size 29 to 30, favoring the 30 for more comfort, and I usually advise sizing up for that reason. Additionally, I like to use the sit test or squat test when trying on jeans—just sitting or squatting in the dressing room ensures they aren’t too tight. Over the weekend, I decided it was time to stop postponing the search for new go-to pairs of jeans. I visited a Levi’s store in the heart of the Lower East Side in New York City and tried on five of the most popular styles Levi’s offers, and I thought I would share my experience with each fit. Keep reading to join me on my quest to find the perfect pair of Levi's jeans and hopefully find yours, too.

*For the Elegant Dresser: The Wedgie Straight Jeans*
*For the Modern Girl: The Low Loose Jeans*
*For the Retro-Inspired: The 501s*

**The 721 High-Rise Skinny Jeans**
I typically shy away from skinny jeans as a short and curvy individual. They often end up being a bit long at the ankle and highlight parts of my legs that I’d prefer to downplay. However, this pair of 721 High-Rise Skinny Jeans fit snugly around my thighs and waist. I loved the dark wash of this pair. The cotton and polyester blend made the denim soft and stretchy, typical of skinny jeans, and the high waist wasn’t overly constricting (I performed the sit test). Since they were about two inches too long, I would recommend them to someone taller seeking a classic pair of skinny jeans.
Pros: Great dark wash color and passes the sit test.
Cons: Too long for my height.
**The Wedgie Straight Jeans**
The Levi's Wedgie Straight Jeans fit me perfectly, which caught me by surprise. The fabric was thicker than I anticipated, being made from 100% cotton. I prefer waistlines that fit just like these—not too high. What excited me was that they landed right at my ankle with no need for cuffing. If you’re petite, standing 5’4” and under with curves, you should definitely consider these jeans. I tried them in sizes 29 and 30 and found that sizing up was better given the thickness of the denim.
Pros: Great fit and fabric, appropriate length and rise for my height.
Cons: None.
**The Low Loose Jeans**
These were my favorite jeans out of all I tried, as I generally prefer baggier styles. This particular pair was very comfortable for thighs like mine, and the 100% cotton fabric was much softer than I expected. This style is also the most fashion-forward compared to the classic pairs. Though they are made from non-stretch denim, their roomy fit mitigated any fitting issues. I had to roll them up a few times, but I still plan on purchasing them because they are so comfortable, and I don’t mind the cuffed look with this pair.
Pros: Perfect amount of bagginess, soft fabric, easy to put on and take off.
Cons: Too long for someone petite if not interested in cuffing or tailoring.
**The 501s**
Ah, the iconic Levi's 501s. I recall that this pair was considered the most fashionable in the 2010s. Now, they've become more of a classic, which is unsurprising considering their existence since the 1800s. For some reason, I had never tried on a pair of 501s; I just didn't feel drawn to the silhouette. However, when I finally did, I was pleasantly
