An album of cartoons Stalin gave to Churchill will be shown to the public for the first time.
Which drawings did Stalin give Churchill and how the British prime minister reacted to the Soviet leader's gift — visitors to the exhibition "Caricatures. Comics. The Humor of the Führer's Personal Enemy" will find out about this.
In the exhibition timed to the 125th anniversary of artist Boris Efimov’s birth and the 80th anniversary of the Nuremberg Trials, the Izvestia Media Information Center (MIC "Izvestia") will for the first time present a unique rarity from its archive: an album containing 119 original drawings by the outstanding caricaturist Boris Efimov. Efimov, who worked at Izvestia for about 85 years, hand-made this album from his anti-fascist works for the book "Hitler and His Pack" (1943).
The set was intended for the publisher. But when the artist, after the book's publication, asked to have the originals returned, he was refused: as it turned out, part of the drawings had been requisitioned by the Central Committee — Joseph Stalin decided to give several sheets from that album to British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Later Efimov repeatedly tried to locate the remainder of the album, but he never succeeded.
Previously the public had never seen this unique edition. Now it will be possible to study the album closely — both in its entirety and as individual sheets — at the large-scale exhibition that Izvestia has prepared jointly with the Russian Academy of Arts.

The exhibition "Caricatures. Comics. The Humor of the Führer's Personal Enemy" is open to visitors from November 19 to December 14, 2025, at the Museum and Exhibition Complex of the Russian Academy of Arts in the Zurab Tsereteli Gallery of Arts, 19 Prechistenka Street, Moscow.
While working with Efimov's legacy, Izvestia has also been thinking about reviving the genre of political caricature itself and bringing it back to the pages of national media. So if you have discovered a talent for cartooning and feel that your works should definitely be seen by our readers, send them via the feedback form: https://infopovod.iz.ru/?from=efimov. From the submissions, the editors of Izvestia and experts from the Russian Academy of Arts will select the best, which may then be published on the MIC "Izvestia" platforms. The most outstanding authors will be offered the opportunity for ongoing collaboration with Izvestia.
