Author of their own reality
In an interview for the magazine, Elena Yurgilas — an event host, TV presenter and model — on the eve of the New Year chooses not to talk about plans but to talk about meanings.
About that rare moment between the outgoing and the incoming, when you can allow yourself a pause. Slow down. Hear yourself. Elena shared her reflections on inner authorship, paying attention to one’s own path, and the ability to claim what you’ve lived — not as an outcome, but as a value.
— When I was asked what I would like to write about in this article, I looked out the window and saw a Christmas tree decorated with garlands in the courtyard of the building where I live. And yet it wasn’t there yesterday.
As was the question of whether I wanted to write this article.
As was a clear understanding of what my 2025 would be — back in 2024.
— And right now I don’t know exactly what my 2026 will be. Perhaps in this we are all very much alike. Each of us has our own unique story of living through the past year. What we were waiting for. And what we didn’t expect at all. Each of us leaned on something of our own.
— Recently my friend — a well-known blogger — said a phrase that resonated with me: “How grateful I am to the Universe that I am surrounded by such wonderful people. I thank it every day for the sensitive, understanding, supportive people around me.” And of course I agree with her. But let me tell you a secret: I have seen how much work it took behind that. How many books were read. How many honest conversations with herself. How she learned to feel her boundaries and to respect the boundaries of others. How much effort went into the search for meaning, into following her mission, into creating that space where support, growth and success are possible.
— And in that moment I wanted to ask: why do we so rarely thank ourselves? Why don’t we always notice ourselves? I still haven’t fully solved that riddle.
— And perhaps that is why, in this festive bustle, in this event-filled time, I want to suggest that we all take a pause. Touch base with ourselves. Claim our labor and our results. Meet ourselves, truly.
— Let’s do it right now. Place your hand in the center of your chest. Take a deep breath and a calmer, long exhale. And say to yourself: “I am. I am here.”
— This is that pause. That exhale. To acknowledge: everything you have been through is not accidental. Everything you have was created by your effort, your choice, your attention. Claim authorship of your life.
— We create our reality ourselves. And it can be very different. It largely depends on our thoughts, our anchors, on where we direct our gaze.
— I could have missed that tree in the courtyard. I could have not received the offer to write the article. But in the reality I create, there is room for joy. I see the tree and I rejoice in it. In my reality I am valuable and important, and people are interested in my thoughts. And so I follow my mission — to be a conduit of living emotions. That is what being an event host means to me.
— And if there is a response in my reality, it means I am heading where I need to go. Maybe the Universe hears me and sends confirmations. Or maybe we create this world together — step by step, choice by choice.
— And if after reading this article you pause for a moment, feel yourself, your path, your work, then everything was meaningful. Because the most important person to greet the New Year with is yourself.
