28 Spring Purchases Inspired by Slim Aarons' Palm Springs

      There’s something about Palm Springs that inspires me to dress up as a '60s housewife every time I go there. It might be the mid-century modern architecture, the vintage stores brimming with vibrant patterns, or the stories of Frank Sinatra. Perhaps it’s also films like Don't Worry Darling that romanticize Palm Springs' golden era, or photographers like Slim Aarons who captured idyllic moments of sunny relaxation. It’s likely a combination of all these elements.

      In January 1970, Aarons shot a series of now-famous images of the Kaufmann House. The elegantly dressed women sported crochet crop tops, oversized sunglasses, bright yellow two-piece outfits, wide-brimmed sun hats, and floral minidresses. Meanwhile, the men wore patterned blazers, crisp white shirts, and loafers. Over 50 years later, these photos continue to define Palm Springs style.
