From the Farmers Market to Date Night: Bella Hadid's Fragrance Guide for Every Occasion—Discover Her Personal Picks.
Is the idea of having a signature scent overrated? That's a question I found myself pondering after I had the chance to address my numerous fragrance-related queries to Bella Hadid, supermodel and creator of 'Ôrəbella. The brand recently launched three new hair and body mists to complement its editor-approved perfumes, which is why we had this Q&A. After discovering how she incorporates them into her routine, I've come to fully embrace my long-held perfume preferences. In my opinion, I'd prefer to have a diverse fragrance collection rather than being tied to one signature scent. True to 'Ôrəbella’s ethos, the new hair and body mists boast skin-friendly, bi-phase formulas. They’re hydrating, free of alcohol, and crafted to elevate your aura with a blend of fine fragrance notes and essential oils. Unlike the brand's perfumes, however, these are lighter, "spontaneous," and intended for a "fluid" fragrance experience. Hadid frequently layers and experiments with her scents in unique combinations. Below, check out our exclusive interview where Hadid shares her go-to tips for selecting the perfect scent for any occasion.
What motivated you to go beyond traditional perfumes and create hair and body mists? I've always perceived fragrance as something very personal; it's not solely about the scent but also about how you feel within your body. With the perfumes, there’s a strong sense of intention, serving as a grounding ritual. However, I wanted something that could accompany you in a more fluid and spontaneous manner, something easily accessible throughout the day for an instant refresh. That’s essentially how the mists originated. I was inspired by the concept of a lighter, more effortless format that encourages generous use on your hair and skin, layered in any way you desire. Also, ensuring they are alcohol-free was significant to me, as that's what 'Ôrəbella stands for—making them feel hydrating and nurturing rather than drying. It’s less about “applying perfume” and more about engaging in a joyful, ongoing sensory ritual that you can return to, something that is expressive, free, and seamlessly integrated into your daily life.
There are three fragrances. Let's begin with Gardenia's Whisper. How does it make you feel, and what memories or associations does it invoke? Gardenia’s Whisper starts off very soft; you initially sense a hint of rhubarb, which isn’t sharp—more like a gentle uplift that instantly transitions into a creamier essence. The jasmine and gardenia emerge quietly, close to the skin; it’s floral but diffused as if it's a part of you rather than an overlay. As it settles, the warmth of vanilla and cashmere wood harmonizes everything, creating a comforting yet slightly nostalgic softness without feeling heavy. It’s a scent that doesn’t demand attention but rather invites people closer. It’s personal, understated, and embodies that intimacy you experience when something feels uniquely yours.
And how about Nectar's Dew? Nectar Dew evokes the sensation of entering a garden just as the morning light begins to shine—everything is still dewy, gentle, and on the brink of blooming. It opens with a fresh, almost effervescent juiciness of pear and fig, accompanied by a hint of citrus—like fruit warmed softly by the sun but still touched by the coolness of the morning. It then transitions into peony and orange blossom, which feels very airy and petal-like, similar to walking among flowers still holding droplets of water. As it develops, it takes on a warmer, grounding quality with soft musks and tonka, yet it maintains its lightness. It naturally melts into your skin, radiating a glow. It captures the feeling of fresh skin, open air, and serene moments in nature—like everything is new, ready to begin anew.
What about Golden Brulee? Golden Brulee is the coziest and most enveloping of the three. It opens with a rich, spiced softness that feels immediately comforting—almost like warmth on your skin. Then, the plum emerges, deep and slightly syrupy, combining with tobacco and cashmeran in a way that feels textured and somewhat addictive. As it dries down, it emphasizes that creamy warmth, tonka, and vanilla, without being overly sweet. It’s more like a soft, lingering sweetness that envelops you. It evokes indulgence without effort, akin to the golden light experienced at day’s end when everything becomes softer and slower.
These body mists are designed for layering. Do you have a favorite combination that you’ve been enjoying recently? I love using Nectar Dew as a base and layering a little Gardenia's Whisper on top. It gives that fresh brightness complemented by a lovely floral mix, which evolves throughout the day. However, I don’t stick to one combination; it often varies with my mood. Plus, I enjoy layering them over my skin perfumes. Starting with a parfum directly on the skin provides all
