Additionally, it possesses cultural authenticity. "Aussie girl glam" is not just a random online trend; it enjoys popularity within its specific region. According to Australian-born, NYC-based makeup artist Bronte Scullion, it represents one of the most prevalent makeup styles in the Australian beauty scene. "It's profoundly influenced by the sun and warmth present in Australia, which naturally reflects in our makeup choices, prioritizing glowing, bronzed, and creamy skin." In fact, she notes it is frequently the preferred look for editorial shoots. "Many Australian photo shoots aim for warm, radiant skin tones," she explains. Tanielle Jai, a Queensland-based makeup artist and founder of her own beauty brand, concurs that Aussie girl glam originated on set during photoshoots. "Many of the viral looks you see are crafted during brand campaigns, where makeup artists focus on achieving a fresh, bronzed, and effortlessly beautiful appearance on camera," she shares. "I’ve participated in commercial photoshoots for over a decade, and while some take place indoors, many are outdoors in the heat. Since the days can be lengthy, the makeup needs to be breathable, photograph well, and be easy to touch up throughout." Scullion adds "lived-in" to that list. "[It] appears effortless rather than overly structured. The look is minimal yet thoughtfully executed regarding placement. It draws heavily from Australia’s climate and coastal lifestyle, resulting in a softer, more radiant style." Jai shares this sentiment. "Living in Australia, particularly in Queensland, where it feels like summer most of the year, the emphasis is on lightweight, breathable makeup that enhances your natural skin rather than masking it." Recently, Kelli Anne Sewell, a celebrity makeup artist and founder of the Makeup by Kelli Anne app, released a tutorial on how to achieve authentic Aussie girl glam. "Aussie girl glam comes directly from the top Australian makeup artists," she states. "Several key elements bring Aussie girl glam to life," Scullion explains. "Primarily, it’s about cohesiveness, especially between the eyes and cheeks. I always try to use multi-purpose products to keep the routine effortless."

Scullion prefers a radiant, buildable foundation like the Dior Backstage Foundation ($45). Jai opts for a "one-layer makeup look," which means forgoing foundation in favor of a lightweight skin tint like the Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint ($72).
