When discussing shoe trends, Beatriz de los Mozos, CEO and founder of the shoe brand Flabelus, strongly asserts that comfort shouldn’t be sacrificed for style. However, before de los Mozos began revolutionizing footwear, her career was rooted in the legal field.
After obtaining a law degree and a master’s in comparative politics, she started her professional journey in London practicing law. She later took on a role as sales manager and senior legal expert at a legal startup, significantly contributing to its growth over successful years. Her career path took a drastic turn when she faced a personal health issue. After being diagnosed with scoliosis, her doctor advised her to stop wearing her favorite shoes. Determined to combine style with comfort, she envisioned shoes that would fulfill both needs. This vision laid the groundwork for Flabelus, which merges the casual elegance of Italian furlanes with the traditional comfort of Spanish espadrilles.
Eager to bring her idea to fruition, de los Mozos launched a Kickstarter campaign and collaborated with a Spanish factory to create the innovative hybrid designs, leading to the birth of Flabelus. What began as an online-only business quickly captured the attention of consumers looking for fashionable yet supportive footwear. In just five years, the brand has seen remarkable growth, expanding from online sales to physical retail locations and is now available in over 700 stores across 54 countries. The company has also established an expanding network of flagship boutiques, enhancing its global presence and reputation for stylish, comfortable shoes.
