This skincare duo, endorsed by surgeons, promises to smooth and clarify skin within 28 days, so I decided to give it a try.
If you’re familiar with me, you know how much I cherish my Lyma Laser Pro. I used this skincare device every night in the lead-up to my wedding, and even after testing numerous at-home gadgets for my job, I consistently return to it. I recommend it to anyone looking for smooth, radiant, and even-toned skin—though I must mention that it is the priciest skincare item I possess. At six thousand dollars, it's not a trivial expense! However, I wouldn’t endorse it so enthusiastically if I didn’t think it was worth every penny. I don’t make luxury recommendations lightly, so when I do, you can be assured that my judgment is both discerning and careful. This brings me to the brand's new (and just as pricey) Power Youth Duo.
In July, Lyma broadened its range of longevity science-backed products with two new skincare formulas: the Power Youth Serum and Power Youth Cream. Given my status as a Lyma enthusiast, I had high expectations for their entry into topical applications. Continue reading for my comprehensive assessment of how they perform.
About Lyma Power Youth Skincare
If you know Lyma, you likely anticipate some innovative science behind it. I can confirm that the brand doesn’t compromise on clinical studies and extensive research. Similar to its tools, the skincare line was developed alongside a network of surgeons, geneticists, and longevity scientists, so bear with me as I distill all this information! In summary, the skincare utilizes genolytic technology to tackle five significant signs of aging: dehydration, compromised barrier function, oxidative damage, microbiome disruption, and loss of structural integrity. What is genolytic technology, you might ask? It is essentially Lyma's advanced ingredient system. Guided by the science of epigenetics (how lifestyle and environmental factors influence gene expression), this collection of active ingredients addresses not just surface-level skin issues, but multiple pathways of skin aging through high-tech delivery systems that ensure each ingredient reaches the skin at its most effective level, with a specific concentration ratio engineered to promote synergy among the actives. This should go without saying, but the two formulations are incredibly potent. Specifically, the serum and cream contain 61% and 66% active ingredients, respectively, while most brands average around 20%. The ingredient lists vary slightly, so let's focus on each formula.
Power Youth Serum
- Niacinamide to even out skin tone and strengthen the skin barrier
- Microalgae-derived technology to stimulate skin renewal signals
- Copper-peptide complex to promote firmer, smoother, more elastic skin
- Multiple forms of hyaluronic acid for immediate surface hydration and deep moisture
- Probiotic-derived protein to nourish the skin microbiome and curb moisture loss
Power Youth Cream
- Plant oils and butters to soften the skin on application and retain moisture
- Four different sizes of hyaluronic acid for hydration at various skin depths
- Retinyl palmitate to gently stimulate cell turnover
- Bakuchiol, a plant-based retinol substitute, to promote cell renewal
- Snap-8 peptide to reduce the appearance of expression lines
- Ergothioneine, a mushroom-derived antioxidant, to soothe inflammation
- Bioferment extracts to enhance the microbiome and support skin resilience
My Experience and Results
According to the brand, the results are expected to follow this timeline: instant plumping and hydration in week one; a calmer, more even complexion from weeks two to four; increased firmness and smoothness from weeks four to eight; and the most significant transformations by week 12. After using the Power Youth Serum and Cream every night for 26 days, I’ve already noticed a significant improvement in hydration, inflammation, and smoothness.
Inflammation is a major contributor to various skin issues, including redness, breakouts, and dull, dry texture. It’s clear why addressing it at the cellular level could minimize these concerns even within a few weeks. My skin feels softer, calmer, and more vibrant than before, and a coworker even remarked on how luminous I looked during a video call while wearing no makeup. The results are evidently noticeable even through a computer screen.
I typically use a low-strength retinol serum (around 0.1% concentration) nightly, and I was initially apprehensive about replacing it with Lyma’s skincare. Would the cream’s bakuchiol and retinyl palmitate be sufficient to keep my skin smooth and clear? However, by the end of the first week, my concerns vanished. The mild stimulation of cell turnover achieves the desired effect, particularly when complemented by the line-smoothing peptides. While you can technically use the skincare system alongside your regular retinol, I prefer not to overload my skin with too many actives. I've been maintaining my routine with my usual mandelic acid serum in the morning and using Lyma at night, and it has worked wonderfully.
The sensory experience is also crucial for me.
