I work as a Beauty Editor, but I'm not exempt from TikTok hacks—this dewy foundation tip feels almost magical.
Although I'm not easily swayed by BeautyTok (most viral products don’t impress me), I frequently turn to the app for quick and straightforward tutorials. For example, I look up how to use a high-frequency wand, secure a French comb, apply eyeliner, and similar techniques. Being a visual learner, it's beneficial for me to see these beauty tips demonstrated, even though I consult dermatologists, hairstylists, and makeup artists daily.
Recently, while scrolling through my feed, I stumbled upon a makeup video by model Aisha Potter. (If you appreciate dewy looks, you should definitely follow her—she has incredibly luminous skin!) After underpainting with bronzer, she mixed her own foundation and highlighter on the back of her hand before applying it to her face ("The most airbrushed base," she noted in her caption), and I was immediately astounded by how flawless it appeared. I know this term is often overused, but it truly looked like Potter was glowing from within. Naturally, I had to try this technique myself, and I can affirm that it’s the best dewy makeup combination I’ve ever experienced. Now, I refuse to apply my makeup any other way. Below, discover the specific products that Potter and I use, along with other reliable methods to achieve that ethereal look.
You only need two base products for this: a foundation stick and liquid highlighter. Potter uses the Dior Forever Skin Perfect Multi-Use Foundation Stick, which is already a viral sensation on its own. Seven editors from Who What Wear (including me) rated it 10s across the board for its buttery glide and natural, blurring finish. The soft-matte formula becomes even more sheer and adaptable when combined with liquid highlighter—specifically, Rhode's Highlighting Milk. Potter applies the foundation stick to the back of her hand, adds a few drops of shade 2 (a pearly champagne), and blends them together with the rounded side of Rhode's Pocket Brush. She then applies the mixture to her skin in light, circular motions, which allows the product to diffuse effortlessly and evenly. And there you have it: a lightweight, airbrushed-looking base.
While you can use any liquid highlighter, I suspect the milky consistency of Bieber's formula is what makes the foundation look so impeccable. Shade 2 is currently out of stock, but you could achieve similar results with any of the other three luminizers, or simply combine a milky toner you have on hand with a drop or two of liquid highlighter. I believe that Laneige's Cream Skin Milky Toner and Westman Atelier's Liquid Super Loaded All-Over Highlighter in the shade Peau de Pêche would provide a comparable champagne glow.
If you don't have the Dior foundation stick available, I've also successfully used Merit's The Minimalist stick, which works just as well. For those who aren’t fond of stick formats, a lightweight cream or liquid formula like Chanel's Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint would also work beautifully. The key is to apply it on the back of your hand to warm the formula, resulting in a softer, streak-free finish. Then, when you introduce the highlighting milk (or milky toner), the finish becomes even creamier. Give it a try—I assure you won’t regret it.
