I Tried on a Bunch of Stylish Massimo Dutti Items—These Select Few Made the Cut.
Welcome to The Great Try-On. With spring fully upon us, we took the chance to try out the latest arrivals from some of our favorite brands, documenting our experience along the way. We think that the best way to shop online is to see an item in person first and read honest reviews about its fit, style, and quality, so we hope our try-ons will lead you to your most successful purchases this year. It was a challenging task, but someone had to try on all the stylish items at Massimo Dutti. I was assigned to check out Zara's "older" sister's spring collection for The Great Try-On, and this more upscale high-street destination did not disappoint. I say "older" because it exudes a more mature vibe. I have been a Massimo Dutti enthusiast for quite a while, and over time, I've accumulated several pieces that have stood the test of time.
In my closet, you'll find a pleated taupe wrap skirt, a crinkled white blouse, various pairs of shoes, a linen midi, multiple leather belts, and probably some other items I've unintentionally omitted from the list since my wardrobe is quite chaotic. Essentially, I don't need new clothes, so I can afford to be particularly picky when considering the newest arrivals in-store.
The Spanish brand is recognized for its upscale tailoring, leather, and suede, and offers an overall more bohemian feel compared to the younger, trendier Zara. It's tailored for the busy, sophisticated woman who appreciates quality and thinks about her investment pieces. Thus, you'll notice that the items are designed to be more timeless and thoughtfully manufactured, meaning they're likely to remain in your collection for years. Currently, the brand excels in all these categories for spring, especially in bags, jackets, bohemian skirts, and flowy blouses, which are definitely their current specialties.
For context, I stand at 5'1'' and wear a size 12 (give or take). Most items were true to size, but—as I often notice—the trousers and jeans can be tight around the thighs (I have thicker legs in comparison to a smaller waist). It would be remiss of me not to mention that it's unfortunate there aren't more items available in the store (or online) above a size 14. I'm convinced that the Massimo aesthetic caters to diverse personal styles and shopping needs, so, to whoever makes these decisions: please take note!
Without further ado, scroll down for the Massimo Dutti spring items that I managed to narrow down to my absolute favorites for the season.

My Review: The moment I laid eyes on this chocolate-brown suede jacket featuring a contrasting leather collar, I knew I had to try it on. Along with the matching suede tote bag (which gives off a Margaux vibe), these were the standout pieces, suitable for a variety of outfits, from whimsical off-white layers to tailored trousers or denim. The jacket fits generously, so you could opt for a size down if you're not planning to wear it over knits and prefer a more fitted look. As you can see, the sleeves are long on my shorter arms, but that's something I adapt to as a petite woman; I often tuck them back or have items altered.
Massimo’s current selection boasts many gauzy, lightweight fabrics in earthy, natural tones, as seen in the skirt and top here. They might feel a bit summery to try out now, but they will be a smart investment for the summer and, being less trend-focused, can endure multiple heatwaves. The cohesive color palette allows for easy mixing and matching; I've done this by using a crinkled cardigan to break up the cream-on-cream by knotting it at my waist. The charming little ruched tee is a revelation for someone who doesn't enjoy buying basics, and I'd love to have it in every color, please!

The suede of both the bag and the jacket is rich and vibrant, and I believe brown is arguably a better year-round choice than black. The bag is spacious enough for your laptop and essentials, featuring sturdy straps and a structured design. It's a solid work option and a great travel companion.
Shop the Look:
