I’m creating a French-inspired spring wardrobe—these Sèzane items stood out to me the most.
Welcome to The Great Try-On. With spring truly in the air, we've taken the chance to try on some of the best new items from our favorite brands, documenting the experience along the way. We believe that the optimal way to shop online is to see an item in real life first and read honest reviews about fit, style, and quality, so we hope that our try-ons will help you make your best purchases this year. If you have an appreciation for French style, established best-sellers, and cheerful fabrics, I highly recommend visiting Sézane while assembling your perfect spring wardrobe. Before even entering the store, I had a list of items I was eager to try on, suggested by friends and frequently seen on fashion influencers, as well as a variety of new styles I wanted to examine closely.
My Review: Assembling three spring-ready outfits with a French touch was incredibly easy. Sézane has a unique ability to combine staple silhouettes with a hint of French elegance, making them sophisticated, coordinated, and easy to style. This naturally includes a trench coat ready for spring showers, sleek tailored trousers, and classy heels. Spring is the ideal season to bring out our favorite skirts, and since my skirt selection is limited, I knew that a flowing maxi with a French lace finish would enhance my looks perfectly.
To truly experiment with textures, the brand's iconic Will Jacket in luxurious suede serves as the ideal outer layer, accompanied by a simple basket bag that will be a reliable accessory through the warmer months. Additionally, there’s a range of accessories to complete these stylish and easy-to-wear outfits for office days, coffee dates, spring picnics, and many more occasions. For reference, I usually wear a size 8 (EU 36/small) on top and a size 10 (EU 38/medium) on the bottom.

1. Trench Coat + Lace-Detail Shirt + Pinstripe Trousers + Heeled Mary Janes + Crossbody Bag
My Review: The first item I chose was the Clyde Trench Coat. Years after its launch, this trench remains a timeless essential for the milder months, poised to be a wardrobe staple as spring arrives (and considering the British weather, likely to be worn repeatedly until autumn). It certainly lived up to expectations. I selected a size 10, my usual size for outerwear, and the fit was perfect. While Sézane focuses on the classic design of a trench, the finer details are what make this coat a consistent best-seller. The shoulder seam placement provides a relaxed look rather than a structured silhouette, adding to the garment's ease, while a checked lining playfully nods to the brand's French roots.
Next, a delicate guipure lace shirt caught my eye, intricately crafted to offer a contrasting texture to a classic button-down style. Although it has no lining, its placement allows you to wear it with a nude bra while still looking put-together. A sharp tailored trouser is one of my most dependable staples, and when creating a new season wardrobe, sticking to styles that make you feel your best will help you maximize their use. Here, navy pinstripes complement the white of the shirt and the beige of the trench, providing a pleasing contrast between the smooth cotton, textured lace, and patterned stripes. Both the shirt and trousers fit true to size.
To complete the look, I opted for a Mary Jane. Providing a polished finish, a touch of height, and surprisingly good comfort, these shoes are a classic yet trendy finishing touch for the French-inspired ensemble. I also chose my regular shoe size. This is the type of outfit I would wear to the office or while shopping, both of which require a coffee in hand, so a hands-free crossbody bag crafted from smooth leather and spacious enough for my essentials is the ideal selection. Even better, the strap can be tucked away, allowing the bag to be held in hand or tucked under the arm, as demonstrated above.
