Growing up, there was no assignment I cherished more than a reading challenge. It was an opportunity to channel my passion for reading into tangible achievements, motivating myself to finish as many books as possible. While I wasn’t particularly the teacher's favorite, when a reading challenge emerged, I transformed into a mini Rory Gilmore. The excitement of selecting books and the satisfaction of checking off boxes provided a thrill akin to an adrenaline rush for a third grader. To be honest, I’m still pursuing that excitement as an adult. Fortunately, I can experience that nostalgia and make significant strides toward my Goodreads reading goal with The Everygirl’s Spring Reading Challenge.
We've crafted a spring reading challenge that serves as a guide to romanticizing the season with selections that embody that quintessential spring vibe. Whether you habitually read a book each week or haven’t finished a book since college, this challenge is the perfect way to advance your reading goals while fully embracing spring.
The Everygirl's Spring 2025 Reading Challenge
When selecting these categories, we aimed to meet two criteria. First, they needed to evoke a “spring-like” feel. Second, they had to strike a balance between being challenging but not overly difficult. In my opinion, our final categories hit these marks perfectly. And don’t worry—if you prefer not to hunt for books online, we’ve got some recommendations for you as well. To enhance the challenge, consider making it more engaging by adding location requirements, such as reading in a park or at a café during rainy days. Before you rush to Amazon to splurge on books, challenge yourself to find options within your current collection, at little free libraries, or through your public library. Finally, what’s a challenge without incentives? Create your own reward system for when you complete a category. Perhaps treat yourself to a latte or pick something off your wishlist once the challenge is done.

1. Flowers on the Cover
We had to pay homage to arguably the best part of spring: the beautiful blooms that emerge during the season. This category not only helps to capture the spring spirit but also makes a lovely addition to your bookshelf. If you think that flowers on the cover limit you to just romance or uplifting reads, think again. There’s a wide array of books featuring floral covers, spanning from nonfiction to thrillers, ensuring there's something for everyone.
2. Set in Spring
Reading a book about the season you're currently experiencing can offer a truly engaging experience. Therefore, it’s only fitting that our challenge includes a book set in spring. Whether you’re looking to pass the time during a spring storm or enjoy the sunshine, diving into a book set in this season will provide an immersive experience.
3. New-to-You Genre
As much as I adore my usual genres, spring is the perfect time to broaden your literary horizons. As a fiction enthusiast, my personal goal is to tackle one nonfiction book this season. Perhaps you’re ready to explore sci-fi or delve into a short story collection. It’s time to give that genre you usually avoid a chance.
4. Published This Spring
If you’re anything like me, your to-be-read shelf is so long that you often overlook the exciting new releases constantly arriving. Instead of reaching for something from your existing collection, try picking up a book published this spring. Even if it isn’t set in spring, it’s likely to feature the fresh and renewing themes we crave as March approaches.
5. About a Mother-Daughter Duo
There’s something about spring that radiates mother-daughter energy. When the season arrives, I can't help but picture my mom and me, like the spring version of Lorelai and Rory, embarking on adventures together. Unfortunately, scheduling those plans can be a challenge. In the meantime, I can enjoy stories featuring mother-daughter duos, celebrating their love, flaws, and escapades.
6. A Childhood Classic
This reading challenge already evokes nostalgia, so why not embrace it fully? We all have those books that sparked our love for reading, and chances are, you haven't revisited them in years. Now is the perfect opportunity to dive back into the stories you once cherished.
7. About a Vacation
I genuinely hope you have exciting travel plans this spring. But if, like me, you're staying local, reading about a getaway can be the next best thing. Choose a book that transports you to the vacation of your dreams—without the airfare.
8. Set on the Coast
In my opinion, Diane Keaton in *Something's Gotta

Anastasia, you have been a member of the Union of Artists of Russia for many years and are one of the brightest representatives of the younger generation of contemporary artists. In what style of painting do you paint? I write in a modern style. It can be said that this is a mix of expressionism with a combination of symbolism. It is important for me that the painting carries creative energy, creates a sincere and warm atmosphere. Every painting…
