This popular bodycare brand, adored by many, has introduced a new skin-smoothing product that has the delightful scent of an Italian affogato.
I'm walking through the sun-drenched streets of Rome, on the hunt for a cozy café. I spot one, pause, sit down, and savor a leisurely meal. Afterwards, I order a traditional Italian dessert—an affogato—and revel in how the fresh espresso and creamy vanilla ice cream swirl together in decadent, creamy strands. Well, I’m not *actually* savoring an affogato, nor am I anywhere close to Italy. I’m merely daydreaming, all thanks to a new skin-smoothing shower product from the popular bodycare brand Soft Services. Best recognized for its TheraPlush Hand Cream ($62) and Software Update Retinol Body Serum ($44), Soft Services has a loyal online following. I’m particularly excited about its recent release, an affogato-inspired body-buffing bar that softens and smooths my skin while emitting a wonderfully indulgent aroma. It feels like something out of my culinary fantasies.

Affogato L'Orange Buffing Bar Body Exfoliant
This is a fresh variation of Soft Services' original Buffing Bar ($30), which is a microcrystal exfoliant that effectively removes dead skin cells and improves uneven skin texture. It addresses and helps prevent rough, bumpy skin on the upper arms and legs (also known as keratosis pilaris) as well as ingrown hairs. Enriched with ingredients like glycerin and shea butter, it hydrates and calms the skin. The original Buffing Bar offers moderate to intense exfoliation, while the Affogato L'Orange version is somewhat milder, providing light to moderate exfoliation. The primary difference is its fragrance, designed to replicate the scent of an Italian affogato. It’s smooth, rich, and luxurious, featuring notes of juicy orange, creamy coconut, warm vanilla, and fresh espresso. Essentially, it’s like the aroma of your favorite café captured in a body bar. Here are some important details to remember. First, it's not intended to replace body wash. It lathers like soap, but that's solely to facilitate its application on the skin. Use it on clean skin strictly for physical exfoliation. Second, apply it using small, circular motions for optimal effects. Apply firm pressure on rough areas (like heels and elbows), but completely avoid any irritated, acne-prone, or sunburned skin. Third, daily use isn't necessary. In fact, it's advised to use it two to three times a week. Pro tip: It preps the skin wonderfully for self-tanner.
