Sati Kazanova: "Perfect harmony is unattainable — every day we search for it anew."

Sati Kazanova - on motherhood, inner harmony, beauty, her own brand BY SATI, and the new sound of SATI ETHNICA. In a conversation with MODA Topical, the singer shared why she does not strive for the perfect balance, what has changed in her after the birth of her daughter, and what the upcoming concert at the Green Theater of VDNH will be like.

      — At the MODA Topical "Mom of the Year - 2026" awards, you received the nomination "Harmonious Mom." What does it mean for you today to be a harmonious mom?

      — First of all, I was very pleased to receive such a title. Although I don't know how harmonious I am as a mom. I was lucky to become a mother at a mature age, when I had already found a certain harmony with myself. It seems to me that if you don't find it before entering into relationships, family, and motherhood, it becomes very difficult to catch all of this on the go.

Harmony for me is a certain balancing of different spheres, parts of myself, and my life. Of course, there are constant imbalances: sometimes towards work, sometimes towards travel, sometimes towards family and home. Although I experience imbalances towards being a homebody less often — I am not one of those women who can stay at home for long.

Perhaps this is what life consists of: an imbalance occurs — you correct it. Perfect harmony is unattainable for us, mere mortals, so there is no need to idealize anything. It is much healthier to understand that every day is a search for harmony.

      — Just recently, you revealed your daughter's name for the first time. Why did you decide to share it now?

      — Perhaps I just got tired of the constant questions: "What is the baby's name? What is the baby's name?" And at some point, I thought: well, okay, let me tell you.

It would be strange to hide her name for a lifetime. We never intended to do that. We just initially wanted to keep it a secret for about a year and a half, and then calmly share it.

      — How has motherhood changed your attitude towards yourself as a woman?

      — Motherhood has changed a lot in me and very deeply. Strangely enough, first and foremost — my self-confidence. It seems to me that every woman who gives birth to a person in this world receives a kind of initiation into Womanhood with a capital letter. You can no longer perceive yourself the same way. The very understanding that my body, I as a phenomenon are capable of such — completely changes self-perception and self-esteem.

I believe that the child a woman carries leaves a part of their character, their essence in her. And if this is true, then my daughter has left something very cool in me: good self-confidence, joyfulness.

Of course, there is another side. There are days and hours when you get very tired. You never know what the night will be like: will the baby sleep until morning or will they cry, be capricious, get sick? In motherhood, you are constantly on guard. And this readiness for service, to sometimes go without sleep, without food, to sacrifice something of your own — is also a completely new state for me. At the same time, you do it with love and joy.

      — You always have a flawless appearance. What does your beauty routine look like today?

      — Thank you, of course, for the compliment. I don't know how flawless my appearance is. It seems to me that a lot comes from within.

I don't have a large number of complex rituals. If we talk about my main principles, the first and foremost is meditation and mindset. How we think, perceive events, experience emotions is directly related to our psycho-emotional state.

I have been practicing japa meditation — an ancient technique of mantra repetition — for many years. For me, this is one of the most effective tools for working with the mind and habitual thinking patterns. When thinking changes, the emotional background, the state of the nervous system, and the overall internal state of a person change as well. And from here, harmony, beauty, and youth are born for me. I also consider a proper sleep and nutrition regimen to be part of this.

My second "pillar" is facial massage and self-massage. If I feel tired or tense, massage helps me relax my face and return it to a good state.

And the third is good professional cosmetics. I have been using Japanese salon products for a long time, periodically changing brands.

As for injection methods, that is not my path. My attempts to befriend them were not successful, so I prefer other ways to take care of myself.

      — Tours and travels are a big part of your life. What must-haves are in your cosmetics bag that help you quickly get back in shape?

      — Nothing special. I have basic things: various moisturizing creams, lotions, definitely essential oils, something antiseptic. And definitely a nail file — I really dislike it when a nail chips and starts catching on things.

But if I feel tired and tense in my face, the first thing I do is massage. I work on the deep tissues, relieve tension — and the face immediately looks completely different. Moreover, through working on my face, my body relaxes as well.

      — After giving birth, many women find it harder to find time for themselves. How do you manage to maintain this balance?

      — I definitely won't say that I am some kind of hero and have found this balance once and for all, even despite the title of "Harmonious Mom." I also have periods of imbalance when I forget about myself, neglect my body. But I return every time.

For me, this is not some stable, constant discipline. Everything is quite fluid because my life, my lifestyle is very dynamic. The main thing for me is to notice the moment when balance is lost and return to it again.

      — Recently, your brand BY SATI emerged. How did the idea come about and what did you want to convey through it?

      — It appeared very naturally and playfully, which I am very glad about. I can't even call it a big business project yet, backed by a whole team. Right now, it is more of a project for the soul.

I currently lack the resources — primarily time — to engage with it to the extent that would turn it into a large independent business. Perhaps one day that will happen. But right now, I have different priorities in my life, and I am at peace with that.

I am very close to the state of the things we create. For example, linen kimonos. This material combines simplicity and some grandeur in a wonderful way: the more crumpled and careless linen looks, the more interesting it is, in my opinion.

On the back of the kimono is depicted the Sri Yantra — a sacred symbol of the great feminine principle. For me, it has something regal, divine. And when wearing such a piece, one inevitably wants to correspond to this state.

      — What does it mean for you today to be stylish? Do you follow trends or primarily rely on your own sense of self?

      — I don't even know what it means to "be stylish." Perhaps for me, it is primarily about inner freedom. Typically, in people who truly possess style, this freedom is felt.

I am close to a state of naturalness, where a person does not need to try too hard or conform to someone else's idea of how they should look. In this sense, I am very close to linen: it has simplicity, carelessness, and at the same time something special, even regal.

      — Do you have a daily self-care ritual that helps you recover even on the busiest days?

      — If we talk specifically about a ritual to feel beautiful — perhaps I don't have one. My main ritual is about something else.

There is a favorite meditation technique that I have been practicing for 15 years and teaching for about 10 years — Atma Kriya Yoga. It gives me a feeling much greater than just feeling beautiful or desirable. It is a feeling of happiness, stable, deep, quiet inner joy.

And it seems to me that this is much more valuable than the state of "I am beautiful today — look at me."

      — Very soon, SATI ETHNICA will perform at the Green Theater of VDNH. How will this concert differ from previous programs?

      — First of all — in sound. This concert is announced as a concert with an orchestra, and for SATI ETHNICA, this is the first such experience. For our entire team, this is a very significant event.

I think it should turn out incredibly beautiful. I really hope that we will be lucky with the weather. And we will do everything to ensure that the visual component also delights the audience.

When we performed at the Green Theater two years ago, I was deeply pregnant. At that time, the team created an incredibly beautiful visual solution. And this time we want to add another element that has not been present in our programs before — storytelling, epics, ancient tales.

I want them to become something more for both children and adults than just beautiful and captivating stories. So that they have something healing, reminding of important things and values — just as it was with the stories that accompanied us since childhood.

      — If someone is coming to a SATI ETHNICA concert for the first time, what should they expect from that evening?

      — It’s better to come without expectations. Expectations can always lead to disappointment. So it’s better to come with an open heart and curiosity: what will happen?

Even from a purely musical point of view, I think it will be very interesting to hear how we reinterpret the compositions that many have already loved,
